GM plant closings – let the politics begin

I told you this would happen. I warned you.

So did the Wall Street Journal … and my adrenaline rush Judge Andrew Napolitano … even the NY Post foretold what would happen. We all warned you … I just did not think it could possibly happen this fast and be this brazen.

From the Hill … Congressman Barney Frank has used his position as man in charge of the TARP money to keep a GM plant in his district open … even though it was slated to close.

Rep Barney Frank (D-Mass.) won a stay of execution on Thursday for a General Motors plant in his district that the automaker had announced it would close.

No other lawmaker has managed to halt the GM ax. As chairman of the House Financial Services Committee Frank oversees the government’s bailout program, known as TARP. Frank’s staff said the lawmaker spokes with GM CEO Fritz Henderson on Wednesday and convinced him to keep the Norton, Mass. plant open for at least 14 months.

If memory serves me correctly, didn’t the Frankenmeiser also get TARP money for a small minority bank in his disrict. Oh and get this … others are trying to do the same. The new GM indeed … comrades.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) had demanded President Obama personally intervene and order the Mansfield, Ohio plant in his district be kept open.

I know I just posted this video … but I think it’s worth another look … don’t you? The relevant portion here begins at 1:15.

Obviously, Representatives aren't down with the plan and aren't planning on making any sacrifices…

Vote getting trumps all, including capitalism, patriotism, anti terrorism, heck, pro Americanism.

I just wonder what the manager of that Norton plant had to give Barney for his "favor in kind…."   I think my flesh is crawling.
