Former Obama supporter to president: “I’m tired of defending you”

Ouch. CNBC had a town hall today featuring President Obama and the first question out of the gate was … wait for it … where’s the change? She’s not seeing it, and quite frankly she’s “exhausted of defending” the president.

We clearly understand what this chief financial officer for a veterans service organization means. The president chuckles when he hears she’s tired of defending Obama, and she’s wondering if this will be “her new reality”.

I do not have access to the president’s answer, so this is quite honestly a drive-by media-type piece. (Deal with it.) That said, I want to point out this question could be a good set up for more control and more action by the federal government. Yes, she may well just be asking for more stimulus dollars.

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air wraps it all up quite nicely for the woman.

Apparently, that’s not the change for which she voted in 2008, but as many of us predicted, it’s the change Obamanomics delivers every time it has been tried.  Instead of defending Obama, perhaps she should spend her time looking for alternatives in 2010.

I’m taking a guess here (I have not seen the answer or read a transcript) … the president’s answer was something along the line of …

  1. The previous administration put us in a bad situation and it’s going to take some more time to fix it. (It’s Bush’s fault)
  2. We need to do more for small business and the middle class – like her – by stimulating economic growth.
  3. But we already have done a lot of things for the middle class … health care for those with pre-existing conditions, providing family coverage including kids that are 25 years old.
  4. And don’t forget the financial reform … you won’t be screwed by those mortgage companies anymore!

What a breath of fresh air.  Truthful, heartfelt and with more restraint than the President deserved.

    Please post his response.

    Steve:

Let's take a look at your guesses:

    1. Ding, ding, ding!  At the 6:20 mark comes the blame Bush.

    2. Ding, ding, ding! At the 5:35 mark comes the small business tax break. (6:40 mark for the middle class)

    3. Ding, ding ding: At the 12:55 mark comes the Health care reform answer.

    4. Ding, ding, ding! At the 11:50 mark comes the financial reform and student loan reform.

Thanks for playing and here's Johnny to tell you what you've won!……………….

    {All before the 13 minute mark in about a 62 minute long meeting.}

The lady in question represents those who voted for President Obama and now are going through "buyers remorse" BIGTIME.

WOW! She is my kind of a woman. She did not stutter or stammer. She just politely stood up to the President and asked him a question. It is not surprising to me that she is a veteran. She was trained to be brave "under fire", whether true fire or withering criticism.

What could he do? Call her a racist because she didn't still believe in Him. Well I listened to 15 min. of the response and could not take it anymore. If you can't respond to his assertions of the worth of his bills, and tell him just how damn wrong he is, you give up. But WE heard her and we know she is right.

But, I ask, come November 2012, will she and others like her still vote for this President?  I guess he has two years to turn things around in their viewpoints.  Good luck, Mr. President!

I think she, like many, many others, was charmed by the "promises" and the rhetoric of this man as a candidate, but once that reality reared its head after the inauguration, found that the promises, then charm, and the rhetoric were just so much vapor ware.

While many might be fooled again, I don't think I would count this woman among them.  She has the articulation and sincerity that the president clearly lacks.
