For God so loved the world ….

We adore Thee oh Christ and we praise Thee, because by your holy Cross You have saved the world …

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
John 3:16-17
Something to think about on this Good Friday, I have included this passage as well. Jesus hung on the cross, scourged, bleeding to death, and at his feet stood his mother. This passage always makes my heart ache. Imagine the pain Mary had to endure while watching her son, butchered and tortured and nailed to a cross, slowly die, while she could not do anything to stop it. Any parent can feel that pain even two thousand years later.
When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. After this Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfil the scripture), “I thirst.” A bowl full of vinegar stood there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished”; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

John 19:26-30

Thank you, Jim, for sharing that. Good Friday to you, as well.

Yes, Jim..A blessed Good Friday to you. We miss you on the radio but hope that you will find another radio venue soon! I didn't watch my oldest daughter die on the cross but I was by her side most of the time while she was in a persistant vegetative state for 3 years at Hospital for special Care in New britain following complicatons from the birth of her 3rd child (our beautifu granddaaughter who is now 18years old!). I felt then that I really knew the pain of Jesus's mother when he was Crucified. ( We had also lost our youngest daughter at age 15 when she was hit by a car walking along the road in Avon after the Football homecoming rally. So I really know the pain of losing not one but both of our beautiful daughters.) Thus, this time of year is very difficult but following "the way of the cross" is helpful. We have our granddaughter & her two older brothers (26 & 22) whome we love dearly but it doesn't completely lessen the pain.

Oh my, I am so sorry. Really I am. I did not mean to do that to you. I have now added your daughter to my weekly prayers at church. I find as I get older, that list gets longer. May we all be so lucky as to join her someday and remember, that promise is renewed every year on Easter. God bless.

My prayers for you and the souls of yout two dear daugthers this weekend and always. Jim said it much better then I can, that as I get older so many need my prayers and support. But I hope with God's help to come home to Heaven myself also. God Bless you and may you have a good and blessed Easter.

Jim, MANY THANK-YOUS for your EXCELLENT Good Friday reflection. It was VERY PRAYERFUL and it did touch my heart. I have been watching starting last night the movie, " The Passion Of The Christ " in four parts, and the depths for which Jesus would do for LOVE of ALL OF US, sinful humanity.

Tonight at St. Christopher's in East Hartford, I will be taking part as one of the "weeping women" in the yearly Living Stations of the Cross. I have been doing this prayer every year for a number of years. This Lent and Holy Week has been very difficult, not only because I am going through a very difficult "change of life", but of what had happened to you Jim this week. I will be keeping you in my prayers this Good Friday and in a special way during the Living Stations of the Cross. God Bless you Jim.

Anne–"The Passion of the Christ" was a movie that touched me deeply…There were many parts during which I wanted to turn away, but then I remembered the things that I have done wrong in my life…and Christ has never turned away from me. It's a movie that every Christian should watch at this time of year.

Matthew 10:34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn

       a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law –

        36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'[<a title="See footnote e" href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+10&version=NIV#fen-NIV-23454e" rel="nofollow">e]

Luke 12:53…53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

Matthew 27:35 And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots.

Matthew 27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.

John 15:13 (New King James Version)

13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

And that is what Jesus has done for us

    God Bless

Every Holy Thursday, when the priest and deacons are stripping the alter, I read Psalm 22, the one which, one of the last seven words of Jesus, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Also Psalm 31 for Good Friday, and Philipians 2: 6-11 for Holy Saturday.
