Federal government logo fail – Department of Innovation

They federal government needs to get out of the way of the folks who really do innovate, and they also need to remember graphic designers do not always have basic engineering skills. (Just having a little fun with this post…)

Hat tip to Michelle Malkin, who points out a comment from Rob M. who sent her the following note.

Check out the logo. 3 interlocking gears arranged in this fashion will not move in any direction. They are essentially locked in place. Which when you think about it, is a perfect analogy of today’s government!

You can’t make this stuff up. The logo design is by Jamie Simon, and I’m wondering if the “department” will either fix the positioning of the gears, or ignore the issue.

Someone at the Smithsonian Institution thought it would be a good idea to create a blog that would track innovation around the United States, and give it the faux moniker of a “department” maybe to lend it a bit of respect. The blog, launched during the last week of July – has covered the following topics so far…

  • Google working on autonomous cars;
  • Some sort of show and/or tell mirror that would discuss your health with you;
  • Smart phone apps that allow you to take photos of graffiti, potholes and eyesores and send to government officials to encourage them to fix it, and;
  • Wearable solar panels to charge stuff

This is what funding for the Smithsonian pays for?

    Now, Big Brother, under the guise of the Smithsonian, is overseeing innovation?
