Denver has more marijuana dispensaries than Starbucks

I really don’t get this. In Dec. 2009, I wrote about the 1,000 marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles – as compared to 26 CVS pharmacies – and now there are more dispensaries in Denver than there are Starbucks.

OK, so Starbucks only has 10 locations listed for Denver, but there are about 300 marijuana “joints” in the Mile High city. Even if you include the area out to Littleton, Colo., Walgreens has a total of 55 locations, seven of which are open 24 hours a day.

Over at The Daily, they introduce readers to “William Breathes,” who is the first professional writer who critiques pot and pot shops in and around Denver. Supposedly, there are 125,000 Colorado residents who have been prescribed medical marijuana.

I was under the impression people who really needed medical marijuana were those who had exhausted all efforts with conventional treatment and medication. They were suffering beyond belief.

It’s none of my business, but I’m wondering what ailment this journalist – who looks to be in his mid-20s or maybe early-30s – has that requires medical marijuana.

Again, am I missing something here? One thousand dispensaries in LA? Three hundred in Denver?

I’ll say it again: Legalize marijuana and tax it so that Obama supporters finally will start paying their share to the government.

Tim is right. This is just the beginning of “1984” drugging by the government, so no one cares any more. Orwell was way ahead of his time.

Clearly, Colorado isn’t a healthy state…too much cancer & glaucoma if 125,000 of its residents need med. mj.
I can just picture Jim driving through Denver and finding 50 pot dispensaries with nary a Starbucks in sight…

?Eventually all these pot heads will be to stoned to care about voting. It will be interesting to see what tactics the dems will use to get their people out to the polls. A “magic” bus maybe?

Bill, No one means to say MJ? for medical use is not helpful It helps people with glaucoma, aids all kinds of diseases. But, these numbers are way too high for people needing MJ for medical reasons. I’m sorry for your family member and for all who suffer from painful, debilitating diseases. I’m glad they are allowed to use MJ. There are a lot of medicines that come from plants that used routinely, digitalis for heart is best example..
