More demands by Democrats for a higher minimum wage (yawn…)

Hey, it’s an election year … why not. Late last week 100 House Democrats all got together and introduced legislation to increase the minimum wage. We’ve documented the ridiculousness of increasing the minimum wage here at RVO for years, so we’re just going to point out the obvious.

When you raise the minimum wage, the resources required to fund the increase must come from somewhere. Democrats think you can just raise it with a magic wand and the extra 85 cents per hour falls from the sky.

But they know nothing will happen in Congress concerning this bill, so why even bother? It’s all about politics. From The Hill.

Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) and more than 100 of his House Democratic colleagues proposed legislation Thursday that would boost the minimum wage over three years from $7.25 to just under $10 an hour.

Miller’s Fair Minimum Wage Act, H.R. 6211, would increase the minimum wage by 85 cents a year for the next three years, then allow the final $9.80 an hour wage to rise with inflation. It would also boost the minimum wage for waiters and other tipped employees — which has been at $2.13 for more than 20 years — by 85 cents a year until it hits 70 percent of the regular minimum wage.

Miller said these changes are needed because the last minimum wage increase was in 2007, and has not kept pace with the demands of millions of workers since then.

I’m perfectly happy to have Democrats bring up raising the minimum wage, as it gives me more opportunities to teach readers about the subject. I don’t even have to do much work to get the information to you, since I’ve already done the work.

Wouldn’t we all be better served by the Dems demanding a lower unemployment rate?
    ?
Aren’t a lot of union salaries keyed to the minimum wage?

It’s Political Theater!, brought to us by The House Democrats!
This week’s feature is sponsored by the Democrat National Committee, in union with Socialists everywhere. Working to keep your mind off of the president’s shortcomings.
Being summer, we are into reruns.

It’s nice to see sheep theater in full swing and here’s to hoping that few of us livestock are paying any heed to it… clearly it’s? ba-a-a-a-aaad idea from a bleating heart liberal… cynical me believes that Miller and his ilk couldn’t care less about minimum wage earners but aren’t above offering disingenuous “help” for the sake of having “heartless republicans” take it away during an election year.

Just once, I would like to have a definitive definition of the word “fair” from liberals.?? Then we could take it from there.

Well, I am no liberal, but I think many were raised on “Robin Hood and his Merry Men”.
