Chick-fil-A patrons Eat Mor Chikin – a lot more chicken (Update)

Don’t you love it when a boycott completely backfires?

Update: The media has pretty much picked up on this story across the board as of this evening. Even CNN got a story up at 8:01 p.m. ET.

Chick-fil-A president Dany Cathy expressed an opinion after being asked a question in an interview. The Chicago political machine, Boston Mayor Tom Menino (D), and a bunch of other Democrats went off the handle outright telling Chick-fil-A franchisees and corporate they were not welcome in their cities. They outright threatened to make any expansion into their areas a difficult road, simply because Cathy expressed the opinion he was simply not in favor of gay marriage.

Stupid celebrities chimed in. Left-wing activists called for boycotts and demanded action. But with little or no promotion at all, conservative groups across the country quietly suggested supporters of free speech support Chick-fil-A today … and they did in a big way.

Customers packed Chick-fil-A restaurants across metro Atlanta to support the business in light of the company president’s recent controversial comments.

Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee declared Wednesday Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, urging people to eat at the restaurant. For weeks, the restaurant chain has faced backlash after its president, Dan Cathy, publicly announced his opposition to gay marriage.

But supporters came out in full force from Cobb and Gwinnett to Fulton and DeKalb counties. Channel 2 viewers emailed pictures showing lines wrapped around several restaurants in the metro area.

You probably won’t see this on the news, even through Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel (D) and Menino were granted plenty of time in front of the cameras and got plenty of exposure when they dissed Chick-fil-A. That said, almost none of the media out there noted today was Chick-fil-A appreciation day until about 8 a.m. this morning – the day of the completely un-organized event. Of course, some news outlets are reporting about how busy the restaurants were today – after the fact – simply because they could not ignore the long lines and traffic jams.

I read that one new restaurant in the Kansas City area delayed their opening by 24 hours in part due to the possibility of being completely overwhelmed. Side Note: The first 100 adults in line with an ID get free food for a year at that new location outside Kansas City tomorrow (Aug. 2) … so you need ID to get free chicken for a year, but you don’t need one to vote!

Check out this forum’s posts with more than 5 pages of reports from all over the place indicating Chick-fil-A received a bunch of support today.

Great post.? The left will not see this as support for free speech.? They will spin it as homophobia.
And?it is only getting air time?for that very reason.

I saw fly overs of people in lines in-sighting riots and there were _____ please excuse me for phrasing….? black people too!? I saw women with children.? I saw families.? I saw so many anti-gay marriage people that I could watch the newscast any longer.? It was horrid.
      ?
Back down on earth, LOL.? I really enjoyed that all people of all walks of life ate some great fast food and celebrated the need to keep political parties out of the main stream consumer market place.? WTF do these politicians think for GRAND STANDING issues that are not intended in the original message of the owner?? The man is a Baptist and he has spoken his personal piece of mind not the mind of his consumers.? Let this one fly to coo-coo nest.

What is not being said is the mayors saying chick fil a? won’t be allowed to open and all they are doing is hurting small business owners who are franchisees who may or may not support the opinions of the CEO

The heterophobes are supposed to be holding a “kiss in” at Chick-fil-a this Friday.
    ?
If I were there, it would inspire me to start throwing food at them, just as it would for any PDA, hetero or homo.? And then I would buy MORE food to replace it and support Chick-fil-a and the CEO.
    ?
Maybe there will be too many supportive customers for them to find a table….? 😉

Those SUPER large lines, from a number of pictures that I have seen online yesterday and today, are a SIGN that people are standing up not only for freedom of speech, but for freedom of religion as well.

Look for these long lines at the CFA to be a preview of what will happen come this November in the upcoming 2012 general Presidential elections. ?

I do believe that is just what will happen. Many were willing to give the Black a shot-he won’t be getting another one.

Now this is what I call “punching the bullies in the face”!!
    ?
Now we need all these same (or more!) people Friday to counter the heterophobic spit swap demonstration by the opponents of free speech!

Boy talk about the bullying coming from the left.? Remember the vile affectionate that was lecturing on anti-bullying who ended up bullying Christians during his supposed lecture.? this is just as bad.
    ?
I had never experienced so much hatred coming from these people as I had at chick-fil-A.? These Homo’s were out of control calling Christians bigots because they believe in traditional Christian marriages of one man and one woman
    ?
They drive up bully the workers, they order those of like mind as them to take over their businesses, the even said for them to BULLY them into submission.? Talk about reverse prejudice.? Since when is holding heterosexual view of Marriage? bigotry and hate?

When Liberals are allowed to control the narrative, define what certain words mean and delineate the parameters of any situation, right-minded people have to challenge that. The ‘crat mobs have taken their cue from Obama’s Regime that assaulting religious and particularly Christian values is O. K. This is what Emanuel (D) and?Meninon were telling their troops: attack the despised people who have values. The Democrat Homosexuals? truly are the flying monkeys.
This all a manufactured crisis. Straight from the “Create a Crisis/ Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste” division of the Democrat National Committee. Smug and snarky, it was a media apparatchik who asked Cathy that first question, knowing . . .

Because I was a hungry and full of hate, I tried to go to my local Chick-fil-A on Wednesday, but the lines were too long. I had bad dogs in the bed of my truck, and it was too hot to wait. I was still hungry and full of hate so I went to a local barbeque joint by the Coosa River and ate pork sammiches while the dogs splashed in the water.

Given the dearth of coverage (except on Drudge), Friday’s “kiss in” proved to be a total flop.
    ?
A harbinger of the November elections?? I think so.
