More on Catholic Church’s fight against Obamacare regulations
During the big show yesterday, Vicevich did mention the Catholic Church’s fight against the Obamacare regulations and mandate that demands, in part, individual Catholic business owners who provide a health care insurance plan cover abortions and contraception.
I already posted yesterday, but here is a list of other bloggers writing…

Just so you know, the Boston Globe (owned by the NYTimes) had an article about how society distrusts atheists (http://articles.boston.com/2012-01-29/opinion/30672966_1_prejudice-atheism-mormonism).? To me, it was a demonstration of how religious people are simply more trustworthy than atheists.? The first line of the story takes the opportunity to remind people that Romney’s Mormonism is a reason to distrust him.
?
It does show why ?bama pretends to be religious though.
Repeal it and it won’t be necessary to fight it.
Well, when the president and his fellow liberals have thugs like these supporting them, we can rationalize that we are facing the devil, himself.
Isn’t the Regime selling, err, granting wavers to ?bamaCare?
I love how the WH says they believe they have come up with a reasonable compromise…? How does one compromise on their religious beliefs?
I thought there was provision given to religions. That’s why I became a Christian Scientist.
Ha, Ha, Ha, what a great idea. It would be easier than trying to be Amish.
Reminds me of the bill they are trying to pass in Indiana, for schools to teach Creationism. (even though the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional in ’87)
Just in case you missed it: Ann made an excellent point: Muslims, Christian Scientists, Scientologists, the Amish and so called ?native Americans? are exempt from ?bamacare on the basis of having a conscientious objection to the legislation.?
?
Catholics need not apply, apparently.
No one is forcing Catholic business owners to abandon their beliefs!
they have to cover contraception in their policies offered to employees, they are NOT being forced to use contraception them selves.
Saying that it is a violates their rights to practice THEIR religion is the biggest hogwash yet….you cannot extend your religious beliefs unto others..that is a violation of the constitution.
Don’t believe in contraception?? Don’t use it! Religious rights do not extend to controlling other people’s bodies.
?
Malloy said it himself this morning (from memory; no transcripts yet): “if these institutions get Medicaid/care money, then they should be required to provide all medical legal services.”
?
As stated below, church affiliated hospitals are not the only game in town.? Go elsewhere.? Nobody’s “body” is being controlled.? According to the First Amendment, you cannot make a law prohibiting the free excercise of religion.”? Like any business, you don’t have to stock the shelves with every product produced.
And as far as all this “free contraceptives” BS.. Health insurance is subsidized by the employers, there is no one that gets free anything…if you pay for your health insurance through your payroll deductions, you should have access to any medical care you need that is legal.
You missed the point: it isn’t about what you are able to buy, it is about having to supply it against your religious tenets.? This blows a big hole in the liberal argument, because the church affiliated hospitals are not the only game in town.
It violates their rights because they should NOT have to cover it in their policies as a mandate. They are the employer
Oh, I see…so you can choose what parts of your employees’ insurance you subsidize….therefor a Jehovah should not have to cover blood transfusions, etc.
Ok.
If it weren’t for government mandates, and ?bamacare in particular, maybe you could buy the policy you want without that coverage.? Nice and fair.
Really??? So before the new health care? there was menu-style coverage?? Didn’t know that!
Or perhaps it’s part of the fantasized utopia we all had before the health care bill.
There is and has been menu-style coverage available in the health care insurance industry. I worked in that industry for years … there are all sorts of pick-and-choose options for businesses when it comes to what they will cover and what they will not cover.
