Tea Party Express, Hartford

By Jim Vicevich / September 12, 2009 /

Welcome Free Republic readers and thank you. Please also take a moment to read this post on Chris Dodd. Callers yesterday put the number at anywhere from 1000 to 2000 and the Courant is reporting 1500 (more on that article in another post). Amazing considering the rain and the time of day. You make a little…

Administrative cost of Cash for Clunkers – Update

By Steve McGough / September 10, 2009 /

I’m revising this post thanks to Erik’s suggestion in the comments. I read the AP headline “LaHood: Gov’t paid dealers $1.2B for ‘Clunkers’” and assumed that was it; the dealers were going to get $1.2 billion. The article should have been written differently to include the words “so far” somewhere.

Oh no, not again

By SoundOffSister / September 8, 2009 /

In a nationally televised event, President Obama plans to speak before a joint session of Congress Wednesday evening.  Here is what I have read about the reason for the speech: the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Obama’s planned address to a joint session of Congress this week “will insert the president into the heated…

By Steve McGough / August 25, 2009 /

Just an update on our Web server move. Everything looks to have been migrated over and the site is coming up normally. There may be some issues with posting comments (give it a try if you’ve got something to comment on). We’ll test the poll this morning too.

We’ve got mail: Maybe conservatives are starting to organize

By Steve McGough / August 21, 2009 /

When the TEA Party movement got started, there was no top-down organization, there was no push from big corporations, there was no involvement by the Republican National Committee. To put it bluntly, it was a disorganized bunch who had their heart in the right place.

Medicare, the reason for Obamacare

By SoundOffSister / August 4, 2009 /

Jim has been talking for months about the tie between Medicare and Obamacare.  Medicare is broke, and to keep it running, the government needs an enormous infusion of cash.  Finally, someone has admitted that Jim is correct. Alan Greenspan has now spoken about the connection. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyn0tJkOR7s And, let me explain why. When Medicare came into being under President…

Cash for clunkers breaks down

By Steve McGough / July 31, 2009 /

I’ve been meaning to write a post about this program for the last month or so. The way I figured it, those who took advantage of the program may be able easily end up with a used 2003 Cadillac Escalade that gets 13 miles to the gallon.

Milwaukee neighborhood saves family from burning minivan

By Steve McGough / July 24, 2009 / Comments Off on Milwaukee neighborhood saves family from burning minivan

Not much to say about this, but you’ve got to admit that a story like this really makes you feel pretty good. Neighbors step up to save the lives of people they do not know.

Analysis: Distribution of stimulus funds to states

By Steve McGough / July 21, 2009 /

On Sunday, Fox News reporter John Lott actually did some analysis on the distribution of federal stimulus funds to all 50 states and found states hit hardest by the recession have received the least amount of stimulus cash. It’s not a sexy story since it includes scatter plots and trend lines, but it’s worth a…
