A master who could not make the time to do his own taxes, is vying for the honor of being OUR boss.

  2. Dimsdale on April 6, 2009 at 3:31 am

I would let my company go bankrupt before I would let this bunch of clowns run it into the ground.  The end result will be the same.

Hey Fritz, if Obambi can fire you, he is your boss, and de facto owner of the company.   Ole' Fritz didn't even take the time to wipe the spittle off of his mouth between sucking up to the "one's" administration.   Say goodbyt to GM.

Has Geithner ever run a company?  I guess in a banana republic, all you need to be minister of the treasury is be related to Obambi, or have your mother hire his mother!

Please stop with the Communist/Socialist/Marxist red herring.

This a monopoly at work.  Wall Street bankers are the ones running the show here.

They do not want to stand and face the consequences of the free market, that being receivership, because they know full well what a bankruptcy judge will do to them.  Therefore, they're calling in their political chits (Bernanke, Paulson, Geithner, Summers, Dodd, Shumer, Gregg) in order to save themselves from their rightful fate.  The Free Market solution is and always should be bankruptcy.  We've put men on the moon, I think we can manage an orderly  Chapter 11 proceeding(s).

GM is a sideshow to this Bank Fraud of Biblical Proportions being played on us all, Dems, Repubs, Libs, Conservatives, Libertarians, Greens, Dogs, Cats…

  4. Darlene on April 6, 2009 at 12:23 pm

When Mr. Geithner, our master (ackkk, cough, ackk), figures out how to file his taxes, maybe then his opinion of what "we" need to do will matter.   Puhleeezzzeeee!!!!  I have absolutely zip, zero, nada trust or confidence in they guy and we are going to let him decides who is good enough to be a CEO?????

  5. Dimsdale on April 6, 2009 at 12:42 pm

The only monopoly here is the government.  Yes, I agree, the answer is bankruptcy.  And another answer is foreclosure.   And another is not to increase taxes when things are bad, particularly in a punitive way.  Another is to fire/demote/censure/tar and feather incompetent boobs like Dodd and Frank, rather than continue their tenure as the heads of their respective committees, or worse promote them.  That is a job for voters and fellow Democrats.

Yes, GM is a sideshow, but Obama is the barker standing in front, selling tickets to the suckers.  I expect more from a guy who is purported to be so "intelligent."

Why are Democrats so touchy about be called out on their socialist intent?  Like Bob Beckel, prominent Democrat, said, "what's wrong with a little socialism?"  Or Maxine Waters' slip about "nationalizing" industries?  Heck, what about socialized medicine, government education, etc., etc.?

    When the shoe fits……

  6. DemGeorge on April 6, 2009 at 2:34 pm

"Why are Democrats so touchy about be called out on their socialist intent?"

Because its an insult.  The Democratic party believes in free market capitalism.  We do not want or advocate for the government to control the means of production and distribution.

If you want to extrapolate progressive taxation with socialism, well I can play that game too.    Torture, warrentless wiretapping, pre-emptive war, deregulation in favor of corporate interests all smack of fascism.  If the shoe fits…

It may smack of fascism, but I don't go calling my republican neighbors fascist.  There is a very importand reason that I don't.  Because they aren't.  Just as I am not a socialist.

So, please, cease and desist with the empty, useless pejoratives.

  7. DemGeorge on April 6, 2009 at 2:49 pm

"Heck, what about socialized medicine, government education, etc., etc.?"

What about our "socialized" national security system call the military?

What about our "socialized" dispute management system call the courts?

"Socialized" public safety systems, police and fire.  "Socialized" national transportation system in our highways and bridges?

    "…government education too…"

The founding fathers, virually to a man, strongly advocated a public education system as the best way to support their, our Republic.  I dare you guys to show the intellectual honesty to run on that issue.

  8. Dimsdale on April 6, 2009 at 3:22 pm

Maybe if liberals in the Democrat Party don't want to be called socialists, they would stop acting like them.  They are constantly attacking the free market capitalism you claim they love.  Calling conservatives fascists is purest fantasy, along with all the other names they are called by liberals.

Torture?  Approved by Hillary and a host of Democrats, if you can even call what they did torture.  To each his own.  Warrentless wiretapping?  Of people with verifiable contacts out of country with likely terrorist contacts.  Apparently, Obama is now okay with that.  Pre-emptive war?  Yeah, after 14 UN resolutions, not to mention the 500 tons of yellowcake that was shipped to Canada.   No doubt you missed the elegance of having a radical Iran scissored between two U.S. friendly Muslim countries.   And let us not forget the repeated admonition of Obama to go into Pokeestan.  Deregulation in favor of corporate interests?   More like overregulation (and political threats) resulting in banks being forced to give subprime loans against all banking theory or worse, being guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the gov't that any losses would be insured.  Obama calls it "mortgage relief."  I call it throwing valid contracts, the basis of our laws, under the bus.  Don't forget all those bonus contracts too.  Like 'em or not, they are valid and lawful.  SCHIP and socialized medicine?  Too easy.  "Progressive" taxation?   Try and defend that one under the equal protection clause.  Go look at Great Britain for a template of the future.

But I digress.  Empty, useless perjoratives?  Empty and useless only if it weren't happening before our very eyes.   Obama hiring and firing (from GM now, but what next?) is part an parcel of nationalization of our industries.  Obama telling you what you can earn isn't reassuring either.  Obviously, you disagree.  To each his own.  I honestly hope you are right.   Dump the "it takes a village" crap (i.e. gov't knows best) and restore the rights of the individual, and the "socialist" moniker will be dropped.  And the country will return to greatness.

    (sorry for the diatribe, Jim….)

Oh, I would love to go into a nice long discussion about the "education" system.  I am right in the middle of it.  I see the results of a heavily liberalized, "self esteem" promoting curriculum every single day.

There is a huge difference between education and social engineering, which has supplanted the kind of education for which our founding fathers fought.

    Bring it on.

P.S.  Dem: I note you did not include Social(ized) Security in your list.  And let us not forget that everything you mentioned is being monkeyed with as we speak.

"They are constantly attacking the free market capitalism you claim they love.  Calling conservatives fascists is purest fantasy…"

I'm beginning to see how the rules work here:  Me bad, you good, pull the shade.

Pass the Kool Aide.  You drank the whole pitcher, didn't you?

Waterboarding is torture.  Torture is against the law.  Do you approve?

Germany attacked Poland in 1939 to pre-empt an imminent attack from the Poles.  Subsequent Nuremburg tribunals strictly forbid pre-emptive war.  Are you in favor?

Over-regulation?  Over-regulation?  Forcing banks to lend?  No one on this planet believes that this is the cause of the meltdown exept those on the right eating this long disproven bowl of oatmeal.  This 'theory' is nothing more than a weak attempt to hang this on Democrats and avoid what blame is yours.

  11. DemGeorge on April 7, 2009 at 1:42 am

Add to my list Social Security.  Thanks.

"They are constantly attacking the free market capitalism you claim they love"

I see it as defending the free market from the forces that seek to destroy it.  Remember the Trusts?  Wall street Bank Holding Companies have become the new trusts.  This is not an attack on Wall Street as a whole.  This is a call to catch a thief.  This is a call to render sanction against those who would pervert our free market system.  We can't have a system where cheater's are allow to prosper.

You simply refuse to recognize that free markets can be attacked from within.  12 trillion and counting and you still don't see the attack.  You do so at your own peril.  You are being flanked.  Everything is somehow either the governments fault or a Democrat's fault.  That's the way they want it.

    Tyranny thrives on seperation.

  12. Dimsdale on April 7, 2009 at 3:08 am

"We can’t have a system where cheater’s are allow to prosper."  I agree 100%.

"You simply refuse to recognize that free markets can be attacked from within."  And you refuse to acknowledge that is being attacked from without, i.e. "gov't knows best."  Haven't Dodd and Frank convinced  you yet?  Firing the bosses (thinking they know the auto industry better than those formerly running it) and usurping contracts is no way to maintain a business, and will certainly make all future contracts, be they mortgages or employment, be seriously suspect, since they are not being honored.  How does that "defend the free market?"  The free market cannot function when outside forces (government) seek to ameliorate the corrective sides of the free market, i.e. propping up bad mortgages and usurping (nationalizing) businesses under the guise of lending them money.  Jim is currently tearing up your side of the debate on the air.

"Waterboarding is torture.  Torture is against the law."  Waterboarding is part of Navy SERE and SEAL training.  Are they being tortured?  Maybe.  Losing limbs or disfigured? No.  How about sleep deprivation and loud music?  Stop that too?  If some animal is killing innocents without remorse, he/she loses their right to be treated humanely.  Sorry if you don't like that.  If it is me or him, I go with me every time.

"….long disproven bowl of oatmeal."  By who? The Democrat Party?  Fannie and Freddie ring a bell?  This Democrat run and defended, quasi governmental institution propped up the overheated mortgage market and backed bad, really bad loans, until the house of cards collapsed.  The fuel price surge last summer (another Democrat goal, by the way) was the straw that broke the camel's back.  Democrats pounded and continually bad mouted the economy to win an election (remember how McCain was lambasted for saying that the "fundamentals of the economy were strong," words Obama repeats today?

"Pass the Kool Aide.  You drank the whole pitcher, didn’t you?"  Kool Aid comes in both flavors, and I haven't seen you pulling away from the table….

"Tyranny thrives on seperation."  Absolutely!  Look how Obama and the Democrats are playing the class war!  Rich = bad, not rich = good (unless it is a Democrat on his administration, of course).  To be sure, the Republicans are no angles, but they are completely outclassed by the Democrats, partly because they do not have the aid of the mainstream media, which has been proven to be liberal minded.   And don't forget the liberal shock troops: ACORN, which, coincidentally, the Democrats liberally (pun intended) funded in their pork bill.

So you think Social Security is being run well?  That program makes Madoff look like a piker, a lightweight.  And it is done under the auspices of supposedly legitmate government.

And how about my comment on "education?"  Are you going to support the NEA now?  The MTA and the CTA?

  13. skepticalcynic on April 7, 2009 at 7:01 am

This is funny members of opposing liar parties taking shots at each other. Waterboarding? Torture? Please. If I even SNIFF the possibility of a suspected terrorist knowing something that would save american lives, I start hacking off each part that cant speak, one at a time.

THEY are mud under my SHOES compared to my family.

And BOTH parties display aspects of facsism.  Please.  Live in the late thirties  and early forties in Italy.  Only when you LIVE under those types of rules can you REALLY know what fascism is.

Both democrats AND republicans want to be involved in running citizens lives.  The left wing freaks LOVE government interference in BUSINESS, and the right wing weirdos LOVE when government interferes in what they believe is something immoral (gay marriage, drug use).  Please.  You both want the government to interfere when you see something people are doing that you don't like.

    Not conservatives or libertarians.

    A very telling difference, Steve!
