Boehner: There will be no tax increase … on anyone

Well, if he holds to that promise, it would be a refreshing change from the weenies who used to call themselves Republicans. As promised, the video of the Boehner video.

The presumptive Speaker of the House, John Boehner, gave an interview last night to Brett Baier and I must say I was both surprised and encouraged. Baier asks him if the President is willing to extend the tax cuts for those making above $200,000, Boehner does hesitate or equivocate. “The people of this country have spoken”. Courage!

Start spreading the news please. This guy at least shows he has some cashews. As the President famously told us, “I won, and elections have consequences.”

As the president, he had told Kyl after the Arizonan raised objections to the notion of a tax credit for people who don’t pay income taxes, Obama told Cantor this morning that “on some of these issues we’re just going to have ideological differences.”

The president added, “I won. So I think on that one, I trump you.”

Maybe it has something to do with this … an open letter from conservatives to the Speaker and the Senate Minority leader.

We are united in strongly urging you, for the sake of our nation and its future, to go before the American people jointly and present a unified vision of what this Republican victory will stand for grounded upon these principles:

• A commitment to restoring free enterprise and implementing tax and spending reduction, deregulation, and other policies that promote economic growth and prosperity.

• A commitment to protect individual liberty by reducing the size and scope of the Federal government and to reducing government spending to only those functions entrusted to it in our great constitution.

• A commitment to restoring traditional moral values by passing laws that recognize the sanctity of life, promote rather than penalize traditional marriage and the family, and respect freedom of religion.

• A commitment to rebuilding our nation’s military and establishing a foreign policy grounded upon America’s national interest, rewarding our allies, and removing threats to freedom and security from abroad.

Hot Air has more on this. Burrow down through the links. Remember Mr President, we won. Heh?

Looking for more courage. Hotair has this clip  and a full transcript on Healthcare repeal from the Speakah!

BAIER: You’re still committed to repealing it?

BOEHNER: This healthcare bill will ruin the best healthcare system in the world and it will bankrupt our country.

BAIER: So you’ll take a vote on…

BOEHNER: I am convinced…

BAIER: — repealing it?

BOEHNER: We are going to repeal Obamacare and replace it with common sense reforms that will bring down the costs of health insurance.

This hits the left on the head with the meaning of the word they bandy about almost as much as "democracy" (and with about as much knowledge): fair.  And equal protection under the law.  Progressive is the polar opposite of fair or equal (unless the meaning of fair is "redistributive"), and flies in the face of the Constitution.

I'll be glad if there is no tax increase and I don't have to give up anything. The second part will hard to implement no matter who has the power.

To quote John Wayne "He can talk the talk but can he walk the walk" if he gets it done fine if he doesn't than his time as Speaker of the House will be shorter than the Botox Queen.

John B. is going to need us to keep him honest.  If I recall, he said this bill was unconstitutional.  Yet did not persue having it thrown out on its unconstitutionality.

Rrepeal this bill by all means.  I can't help but use the car analogy: The Dems threw out a car that needed 2 new tires and a tune up – foolishness.  They gag ordered the Repubs, then claimed the Repubs had no solutions – so much for meeting in the middle and compromising.

And to those who would still believe that Obamacare is great – Do you truely expect this to work if it is put back into the hands of those who broke the old health care system?

next, I am waiting for the people who need their unemployment extended (the people that voted R across the board) to realize that it expires a week before Christmas-and will not be extended per Boehner and pals

I'm waiting for the "shoe" to drop on the Bush tax cuts.

Boehner cares as much about us as Pelosi does (did).

Well, he did start blubbering and crying when he gave his post mid-term election speech,

Was he crying for the struggles of the middle-class Americans, um, no-he cried because he worked in his father's tavern-whaaa???

I do believe that the Democrats are pulling a $500 billion "plug" on Medicaid.

    sammy: trust NO politicians.
