Blumenthal’s “October Surprise” revealed … sleaze
The Politico is reporting that Richard Blumenthal is coordinating with Planned Parenthood on what can only be called the sleaziest October surprise in Connecticut political campaign history. Dig up photos on women in the WWE … the sleezier the better … and put em in an add to hammer Linda? Nice.
Ben Smith got a hold of the Blumy camp e-mail that details the coordination and printed this story about an hour ago.
A source this morning forwards on an e-mail this morning from inside Attorney General Dick Blumenthal’s campaign for Senate, in which his aides discuss tarring Linda McMahon in cooperation with Planned Parenthood.
The e-mail’s subject line is: “Worst of WWE + women photos.”
“Hey all — Grossman is looking for mysoginistic photos of women and WWE. Planned Parenthood wants to hit LM hard on it,” press staffer Marcy Stech e-mailed seven other aides to the campaign and the State Democratic Party. “What do we got?”
“Grossman” is the Democratic consultant Andrew Grossman, and the e-mail seems to raise the question of whether the campaign is coordinating with Planned Parenthood, an outside group.
Blumenthal spokesman Ty Matsdorf said there’s no coordination and that the request was simply for an image that would be circulated on Twitter or in a press release, but not in a paid ad campaign of any sort.
That’s what is called a “lame” excuse”. The sleaze factor of ” … looking for misogynistic photos of women and WWE. Planned Parenthood wants to hit LM hard on it” is clearly disgusting enough, but it’s also an indication of the lack of any substance to the Bluemthal campaign. Even his supporters as detailed in last night’s Frank Luntz focus group, understand he’s clueless on things that matter … jobs.
Connecticut’s unemployment rate is 9.1% and holding, even as the state looses more jobs, and the best he’s got is a request for photos of the women of the WWE?
Connecticut’s private sector shed 6,500 jobs in September, reversing hopeful gains from previous months and showing further signs of instability in the state’s economy.
Overall, Connecticut lost 5,900 jobs in September.
As for the Planned Parenthood hook up … illegal? Not unless the coordination results in a mass media blitz, on air or via the “net” … but I’m told that a complaint with the FEC will be filed shortly.
For me it’s all so bizarre.

As for just me as a pro life representative, I find it incredibly rich that Planned Parenthood is looking for sleazy photos of women wrestlers posing, while at their clinics they continue to abort babies in real life. But that’s just me.
Editors Note: The Blumenthal pic, sometimes up and sometimes down, generally refers to the polls, or normal campaign stuff. Thus, it’s been up a lot lately. This post however deserves the Blumenthal upside down, don’t you think?

Blumie cannot leverage his record as AG. His substantial star power as the champion of the downtrodden has evaporated as it becomes apparent to more and more people that what he was doing was incredibly bad for CT business and has set us back decades. Keeping energy rates down??? He personally killed every plan in the last 15 years that would have provided rate relief through new energy projects. He cannot answer legitimate questions on governance with anything other than knee-jerk generalities. He doesn't dare draw attention to the fact that his wife is VERY rich. (Her father is Malkin Securities Corp.) Or that his $3M+ house in Greenwich was sold for a dollar to a trust so that no one would know he owned it. His life is a padded resume specifically designed for high office – and that in a nutshell is why he is unfit for it.
McMahon's campaign should put out a public call for pictures of Rambo in Vietnam. The show pictures of real heros with a cutout where Blumie says he would be. Or better, a childlike paste up of Blumie in jungle combat photos.
Maybe photos of abortions done by his pals, Planned Parenthood?
Like the rest of the Democrats, if you "accomplishments" aren't enough to get you elected, are they really accomplishments?
What a dirtbag…this is SO going to backfire on him. And when it does, we should send whomever came up with the idea a big-a** bouquet of flowers to THANK THEM…when Blumey loses.
Blumie is a scum bag. He claims in his ad that Linda is spending 50 million dollars to "tear him down".

Not only is Blumie a scum bag, and a LIAR, but now, apparently he wants to add Hypocrite to his long list of attributes.
Dick has run a lousy campaign because he is a lousy person. To "in a sleazily way" disparage women through a relationship with the Government sponsored store front abortion fortress, shows his shallow level of character as an equal to him repeatedly saying that he had served in Vietnam.

Lets not forget that any photo's they use the woman got paid. It was a job created in the private sector. Isn't planned parenthood supported by tax dollars?
Just a suggestion about commenting. Mr. Blumenthal, even though he is a public figure, he is still a lawyer (unlike someone who is perhaps a Secretary of State, but that's another subject.) Anyway, there have been instances of lawyers suing people who post comments on some web sites deriding them personally. For instance, I think it's OK to say he uses bully tactics, but it could become a problem to call him a bully. I'm not a lawyer, and I don't even play one on TV, so don't take my advice as gospel.
Even if there's a low chance of a lawsuit, it's probably best to be careful about what is written.
How about using "in my opinion"?
I really don't know. It could tie the statement closer to you since the word "my" is used, or it could distance you since it's not being stated as fact. I'll have jury duty next month, so I'll be a legal expert after that. (On another topic, why does this state send out 525,000 jury notices every year? What a waste! It seems to be only to stroke the egos of the lawyers so they can say they have the power to confiscate a day of your life every year.)

The odds are great that nothing will happen, but he won't have a job in 10 days, so he may be looking for something to do. 🙂
