Another disenchanted Obamacare Democrat
A recent post here discussed what Democrats have been instructed to say about Obamacare on the campaign trail.
The law is not perfect, but it does good things and helps many people. Now we’ll work to improve it.
That’s hardly a resounding endorsement.
On Friday, we learned of a Democrat who voted for the bill, but is currently counseling his state about how to avoid it.
Senator Ron Wyden (D. Or.), an “aye” during the voting process, is apparently having second thoughts.
Last week Mr. Wyden sent a letter to Oregon health authority director Bruce Goldberg, encouraging the state to seek a waiver from certain ObamaCare rules so it can “come up with innovative solutions that the Federal government has never had the flexibility or will to implement.” [emphasis supplied]
Thus within a few weeks we’ve seen colleges and universities asking to “opt” out of Obamacare, and, now, a Senator explaining to his state how to do so. This is not good news if you are an Obamacare supporter, but, it certainly is good news for the majority of Americans who do not like this legislation, and want it repealed.
According to Senator Wyden,
One little-known provision of the bill allows states to opt out of the “requirement that individuals purchase health insurance,” Mr. Wyden wrote, and “Because you and I believe that the heart of real health reform is affordability and not mandates, I wanted to bring this feature of Section 1332 to the attention of you and the legislature.”
Interesting… without even being asked, Senator Wyden volunteers information to his State about how to get out from under the tentacles of Obamacare.
But, before you write to your governor asking that your state “opt out” immediately, you need to know the following .
The Secretary of Health and Human Services would need to approve the ObamaCare alternative of Oregon or any other states, and the waivers don’t start until 2017, three years after ObamaCare is supposed to be up and running. It is also hard to see how anyone in the current Administration would grant them. [emphasis supplied]
Still, are we seeing a chink in the armor?

Obamacare was passed and signed. I can't imagine that the clock is going to be turned back. But, I can see that stoking the fire under the opponents makes for an unending series of postings.
Sammy it may be signed but it can be gutted and repealed or simply not funded which in effect would kill it. Funny your were the first one to post and complain about posting about obamacare
With the election looming it is fun to watch the candidates that voted "aye" squirm and rethink. They should have thought before they voted if they listened to their constituents " wisely". I agree that this will be underfunded, repealed or hacked into a thousand pieces. Listening to Obama today…I was assured that my feelings about this administration were correct. Being talked down to, listening to another Bush bashing, hearing how government funded Unions are the only answer to our economic recovery, made me want to puke. Then..to hear him joke about his ability to fly on Air Force One…my blood began to boil. Off topic I know SOS , but it is still a reflection of his arrogance and disconnect shoving this Obamadebacle that is destroying this country.
This bill (now law) is a turd that needs to be picked up, bagged, and removed. No fix will fix it. The American people want a Mulligan. Admit it was a gigantic error and vow to repeal it.
A law being passed and signed is not the be all and end all of everything. I am sure that the continued "stoking (of) the fire under the opponents" got civil rights for blacks and women, and the abolition of slavery accomplished.
If a state is going to be allowed to opt out, then the time should be now, not 6 years from now, after Øbamacare may have made a shambles of the private health insurance industry. Hard to opt out if there isn't anywhere to go, the essence of "single payer" health insurance.
One wonders if this "opt out" language was simply put in to give Øbamacare supporters a way to "opt out" of their responsibility for ramming it down our throats. At least long enough to get reelected.

Oh, we'll need more than luck, and the Dems will fight it tooth and nail. Of course, if the Republicans had enough power to run over the bill the way it was rammed down everyone's throat, the howling would be non stop.

Sounds alot like the last program we had. And that one was cheaper and less intrusive on our rights, BY FAR.
Repeal Obamacare and be done with it.
Then at least the Gov't could legitimately say they are saving us money.
