A father grieves: John Green talks about his daughter killed in the Tucson shooting
It’s 24 hours old now but if you did not watch this, please take the time to do so. Not only does John Green tell NBC that this tragedy should not be used to impinge further on freedoms, but that the only reason he is doing the interviews is to honor his daughter. She sounds so special and it is a great chance to witness a father’s love for his daughter. Sigh! My heart is breaking.
There is after all no more beautiful bond, in my opinion, then a Father and his daughter. Ed Morrissey asks his viewers to pray for the Green family. It is an often heard refrain when things like this happen. But I was so touched by the father and Ed’s plea that I ask the same of all of you. I pray for you Mr and Mrs Green and your son, and of course your lovely daughter. Please watch it all.

It is no surprise that Christina was such a wonderful, bright, special and beautiful young girl. Her father John is also a very special man. God bless him for his strength and courage. My prayers to everyone touched by this tragedy.
Our prayers need continue for the loss of the dear souls that departed our world on Saturday in Tuscon, we need also continue our prayers for those suffering from wounds inflicted by this man, let God do his will. Please extend your prayers also for God to give those afflicted with grief, stress and confusion of the spirit, the strength to carry them through and allow them to see the light where joy of life can be once again be felt.
Jim, just a senseless loss of life. Anyone who turns this into a political issue should be ashamed of themselves. My prayers go out to all of the families who lost loved ones last Saturday as well as to this community that is surely grieving. And you are so correct about that daddy/daughter relationship. Dads are soooo protective of their little girls no matter what their age may be. I can't pretend to understand what the worst thing for John Green is, but not being there when it happened probably tops the list. Just heartbreaking.
As a father of a nine year-old girl, my heart aches for this family and their beautiful little girl. I sit here and I sob. And, I ask, "why?"….
Jim, it broke my heart when I heard the father of that wonderful little girl who died in that horrible shooting this past weekend in AZ. Having been a friend of a family whose son died in a violent stabbing murder twelve years ago, no parent wants to bury their child. Prayers and condolences to the Green family, the families of the other victims, prayers for recovery of those injured as well.
