The biggest problem has been "mission creep." Democrat legislator, seeing big pots of money to distribute to build pools of grateful voters, have expanded the functions of such programs as SSI and Medicare beyond their initial functions. As problems arose, problems were *NOT* correct, but jury-rigged solutions were applied -- SSI was made solvent by dragooning new payers into what was, by design, a supplementary savings program for blue-collar workers. When a pol tearfully whinges and wrings their hands to say that Grandma can survive on SSI, what he's not telling you is that SSI was never intended to Grandma's sole support.

I worry we're in an election to replace ward bosses with commissars, on the slow installment plan.

It is positively amazing that the Democrats and their minions can push this crap through until the system collapses under its own weight of shaky deals, and still manage, with the help of a liberal press, to blame Bush, the Republicans, and Wall Street.

I am still waiting for McCain to "name names" as he promised, but I think I will be disappointed. Dodd and Frank must be held accountable for their roles in this, as well as the participation by ACORN and Obama.

I'm maybe half way through this thing so far, and already I'm dumbfounded at all the agencies, acronyms, and abreviations involved in this thing. I'm only in the mid 90's and already I don't see anything in the soup bowl except broth. No wonder this thing fell apart; too many cooks.
