From a post called “Quotes of the Day” at Hot Air, this is just enough to get me to ignore Doctors orders, race to the package store, and drink until either my drugs or the booze kill me. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Help. (Bold is mine)

“Most attendees at Comedy Central political spinsters Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert’s rally to ‘Restore Sanity and/or Fear’ had no clue for whom they are voting on November 2. They did, however, know they’re voting Democrat, down the line, because, they said, Republicans don’t fit their mold of ‘moving forward’ in the country.

“For instance, Liz Pifer, a student at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pa., told The Daily Caller that though she plans to vote in the midterm elections on Tuesday, she didn’t even know who was running for Pennsylvania’s open Senate seat. She later said that she thought Joe Sestak was running, and that she’ll probably vote for him because he’s a Democrat. As for House candidates, she said, ‘I don’t know who’s running.’”…

“Shoshana Senn, 15, of Arlington, Va., thinks Tea Partiers are ‘dumb.’”

For this kind of critical thought, they go into debt? OK … one more, because I want you to visit AP’s post:

“‘We don’t have any place to turn,’ said Michelle Sabol, 41, a jewelry designer from Pittsburgh who was wearing a grey cap with a carpenter’s level sewn on top. “Why are these Democrats running away from Obama’s accomplishments? It’s a kick in the gut.’…

“‘We came because we feel like this is a safe place to be reasonable,’ she said…

“‘We want to say, ‘We exist,’’ said Jonathan Erwin, 20, an architecture student. ‘We have a voice. Jon Stewart is only the enabler.’”

Parents … I would ask for a refund. No, seriously, I would. Go ahead. Call the provost. That’s right. Show them these quotes and demand a refund. Tell them, “I give you 40 grand a year and this is the kind of thinking I get from my son/daughter? What, are you kidding me? My kid doesn’t even know who the candidates are and they are calling the Tea Party people dumb? I want my money back. Now.”

There, now doesn’t that feel better? Oh baby, it’s a wild world.

Go if you’d like and do have a good time, but realize this will be a political joke – a.k.a. Stephen Colbert’s appearance in front of a Congressional committee – or a venue to dump a bunch of socialist propaganda litter around the mall again.

If you think this is a serious attempt to “restore sanity” – or anything else for that matter – to Washington D.C., I think you’re wrong. It’s a big promotional event that has everything to do with Stewart and Colbert’s shows, and little to do with what’s happening in the nations capital.

The Oprah will fly everyone from Jon Stewart’s audience to the Stewart/Colbert rally. Oprah showed up on the show via video conference about seven minutes into the following clip. They also announced the previously scheduled “dueling rallies” would be combined into one. Wonder why?

In the dock is the notion that several of our revered Presidents, in a bit of revisionist history that would make Winston Smith blush, are “war criminals”  (H/T Mark Goldfarb):

It comes at about the 5:50 mark. Cliff May asks Stewart whether Truman’s use of the atomic bomb was a war crime, Stewart ruminates and then responds with an unequivocal “yes.” He’s certainly not the only American who would take that view, but it’s a useful reminder that the most vocal and popular criticism of the Bush administration’s war on terror policies comes from people who, if they were being as honest as Stewart, would also judge Lincoln (suspension of habeas), FDR (internment), and Truman (use of nuclear weapons) as war criminals or tyrants or worse.

Update (Jim): Jon Stewart has since retracted his statement. Make sure you watch both. But interestingly Stewart has only retracted the statement regarding Truman … not Bush.
