This is the dreadful equation of socialism.  Money can be used to create value, or it can fuel the exercise of power, but not both.  You can see this happening around you, right now.  It has happened everywhere in the world, every time central planning has been tried.  It would happen even if politicians were the selfless, compassionate, disciplined civil servants they claim to be.  The fantastic corruption typical of socialist states, most definitely including our current Administration, serves to weaken the rate of exchange between value and power.

Then at 11AM … Senatorial candidate Peter Schiff joins us. We will talk with the conservatarian about his race but also about his most recent conversation with Yahoo Finance that we are headed for another economic meltdown worse than the last because of unsustainable debt and an overactive money supply. We’ll get his view on how this can be avoided.

I am so sorry to inform you, my loyal listeners and friends, that, as of this morning at 8:30, I am no longer employed by WTIC 1080. Over the course of four months, we were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.

I want you to know I would never think of leaving you without saying good bye, especially in turbulent times like this, but the station made the decision to keep me off the air for the final day of my contract. So this will have to be my way of saying thank you. You are the most loyal and as the SOS says, brightest, well informed audience that any talker could have.

Please be assured that I wish this were not so, but this is still America, where the individual, and business for that matter, can decide their worth for work. On that point we could not agree.

Now the good news. Radioviceonline.com will continue without interruption, with the chat room and live video so we can continue our conversations that started here a year and a half ago. I will be live chatting tonight at 7PM and hope you will join me then as we continue to talk politics, health care, taxes, deficit … yada, yada. Ha!

Update 2 (Steve): I’ve now turned off the comments for this post. There were enough posts that were pretty bad (using profanity, suggesting others go sit on an IED…) that I was not going to spend the time cleaning them up. WASHINGTON – Former Republican Rep. Rob Simmons said Sunday that he plans to run against Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd.

Simmons said he made the decision to join the race after talking with relatives.

“The family had a long meeting today and was unanimous that I run,” he said in an e-mail message to The Associated Press. “So I am running.”

Former 2nd District Congressman and CIA intelligence officer Rob Simmons tells Fox 61′s Shelly Sindland he’s more than 50% there in terms of deciding whether he will run for Senate in Connecticut. That’s more than anyone has gotten from Simmons so far … and unless there’s some strange turn of events, it sounds like he’s in. Listen for yourself then you decide.

OK … credit where credit is due. Sindland wouldn’t let him off the hook and she didn’ t badger … she knew what buttons to push and drew him out and she got an answer. The Q poll question I think was the key to the interview and got the answer. Quinnipiac has Simmons up 43% to 42% in a blue state, an indication of respect for a man like Simmons as it is Dodd’s troubles. Could Dodd’s home in Ireland been the tipping point?

Rob Simmons actually nails why Dodd’s numbers are down and why ulitmately Dodd is in trouble … and it ain’t just the mortgages.
