This is how just about every piece of legislation gets passed. They use our money to buy political capital. It has been this way for a long long time and it's not going to change. And it is not like the Louisiana can say no or come next election time they will tout the fact that she said no to $100 million for her state.

I agree with don. The stench from the Congress is overpowering, and the sheer audacity these toads display probably makes Bernie Madoff wish he had been a politician. The way they are jamming these bills through, under cover of darkness (or is it under a rock?), with nobody being able to read any of the bills, is criminal.

I, for one, refuse to vote for any incumbent that votes for this travesty of a bill. It is near treason, and should be tossed out for being unconstitutional.

This is open sewer politics. If oil companies sit around a table and conspire against the consumer to fix a monopoly price, it is an evil trust. When politicians sit around a table to conspire against the voters , monopolize a market, and pay off politicians to vote against their constituencies , its called an "historical moment". The recent court ruling that allows Katrina victims to sue the Army Corp of engineers for negligance needs investigating. The timing of this ruling coming just hours before a key Senate vote on Healthcare reform fails the smell test. The FBI needs to investigate communications between the trial judge and Dirty Harry to be sure political pressure was not brought to bear on this ruling. If the FBI really cares about breaking up terror cells, Washington DC needs to be their prime suspect.
