Not sure how to spell amuck but hope that does well. In California the high school bake sale is going the way of the … dare I say it, polar bear?
The old-fashioned school bake sale, once as American as apple pie, is fast becoming obsolete in California, a result of strict new state nutritionstandards for public schools that regulate the types of food that can be sold to students. The guidelines were passed by lawmakers in 2005 and took effect in July 2007. They require that snacks sold during the school day contain no more than 35 percent sugar by weight and derive no more than 35 percent of their calories from fat and no more than 10 percent of their calories from saturated fat.

Maybe they could just legislate a maximum belt size or shoe size.
Can you say "micromanage?" Sure, I knew you could. (with respect to the late Fred Rogers of Mr. Rogers fame)
"Amok" is the original spelling, but "amuck" or "amuk" is commonly used and considered acceptable. Word police signing out!
Connecticut schools have food police too. A 2006 law was passed to restrict the sale of soda and junk food. Individual districts have their own policies, which have become stricter.
I support healthy eating. But why, why, why do they have to suck the fun out of everything? The little kids can’t even have cupcakes for birthdays anymore.
I wish the government would stop trying (yes, Dims, my thought exactly) to micro-manage my classroom…but based on the content of professional development workshops I’ve attended recently, I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon.
Cupcakes and twinkies and soda!!!OH MY!!!
