Her best bet is to team up with Ron Paul.

Can anyone verify that the Electoral College will recognize a third party?

We would have to make sure we have an OVERWHELMING majority of votes – no Ross Perot results this time.

I like Palin. I like her politics. BUt, her politics are similar to a bunch of other conservatives serving now.

She is what she is because of her looks. Take away that and she would still be unknown.

Now, I'm not saying she can't do the job, while those looks help her with gaining republican support, they are the MAIN reason for all the abuse from the left.

I think Sarah is stepping down to

A: Tie up some loose ends

B: To educate herself before the battle of 2012

C: To have a real economic plan for america when she takes office

Steve, thanks for the rational post. The Republicans have certainly been on a downward spiral the past month or so, and Palin just compounded that effect.

It is amazing the viciousness of the attacks that were targeted against Sarah Palin, both during and after the election process – just heard that obnoxious ignoramus, Chuck Todd (nbc/msnbc) saying she's going to "cash in on her celebrity" in a derisive tone of voice. That being said, Palin stated that the current ethics complaints have cost her family over $500,000. And dealing with them is taking up a lot of her time. However, I don't think quitting half-way through her first term as governor will increase her qualifications for higher office.

Maybe Palin does need to get out of the limelight, make some money, and study up on international and domestic issues. While I've admired her moral stances, sheer gutsiness, and the great job fighting corruption in Alaska, she needs to do some serious work if she ever wants to run for President and have any chance of winning.

The political atmosphere, especially among the media, is a total disgrace. It seems like there is little honest and in-depth reporting any more. Just a bunch of tabloid vultures out for ratings and "blood." Jim Lehrer is about the only one left who gives unbiased reporting, without the hype. He's one of the last of a breed. The rest will have a feast tearing away at the flesh and bones of this latest Republican carnage.

There is no way Palin is out for the count.

When you think about all the liberals that continuously try to "help" us by telling us that we need to dump hear because she is a drag on the party. They did nothing but show their hand. Think about it: if Palin were the problem they portray her as, why would they get in the way?

Truth is, they are scared spitless of her, and the ongoing attacks long after the 2008 election prove it.

Classic Palin being Palin. Another awkward humerous episode of Married with Children . A hasty ill rehearsed press conferance where quacking gulls draw more attention than Palin's amateurish performance at the podium. However, when she gets past grieving about her victimhood, her words truely connect with an American spirit like no other politician can. That line about being a fisherman and knowing that only dead fish go with the flow is an expression of pure genius. After getting my hopes up, she ends by quoting General Custer who wasn't retreating but "advancing in another direction." Custer's entire column of 700 men was annihilated at Little Big Horn . As always Sarah Palin leaves me wondering is this a joke?

Thank you Steve, for being a voice of reason! Sarah Palin, if nothing else, has guts! I say turn off the TV. The slams will be plentiful, as already has been shown even by Fox news. I find it disgraceful that the media and political system can squeeze out a person like Sarah Palin. Before anyone wants to bust on me, I am not saying she is the "everything" of what we need. But she has been bold, honest and respectable. She cares more about this country than say … Barney Frank or Chris Dodd. This "system" has given liars upon liars titles they don't deserve. Sarah Palin has done none of that. And now all I have heard in the last hour are terms like "buckling under pressure" and "political suicide." I am simply ashamed of our system right now.
