Obama tells America: “hey you guys are a little soft.”

Not exactly what you want here from your leader. But certainly what I would expect from a president who always finds some reason to blame someone else for our economic malaise. This one via Gateway pundit. Video below the fold.

After you listen to this video ask yourself just who is it who’s gone soft. Who was it who has lost its competitive edge? Would it be the 14 million people who were unemployed? Would it be the millions who are underemployed? Or is he talking about his supporters? My guess is the reason America’s lost its comparative edge is because the government keeps its boot on the throats of ingenuity and industriousness.

Gateway points us to this article the Wall Street Journal. The video is from WESH-TV in Florida. Your comments are welcome. Remember if you love him and stop being so gosh darn lazy.

“This is a great great country that had gotten a little soft and we didn’t have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades,” Mr. Obama said in response to a question about the country’s economic future. “We need to get back on track.”

Mr. Obama has faced heavy criticism for his handling of the economy, and the high unemployment rate –9.1%– is threatening his re-election bid.

Despite his concern, Mr. Obama said he wouldn’t trade positions with any country on Earth. “We still have the best universities, the best scientists, best workers in the world; the most dynamic economic system in the world,” he said. “We just need to bring all those things together.”

After being told the other day that he’s the antichrist, I can understand why the young president is trying to deflect criticism on his disciples.

Amazed at the classy way Obama handled the heckler. Then he was worried about the guy’s jacket being lost!

Crystal, nice try on trying to deflect the original intent of the post.

Ummm, that was the second half of the post.
And as far as the ‘gotten a little soft” quote he went on to say he? “wouldn?t trade positions with any country on Earth. ?We still have the best universities, the best scientists, best workers in the world; the most dynamic economic system in the world,? he said. ?We just need to bring all those things together.?
I am confused as to why this is such an outrageous statement to you people.
I continually read here about how we are reliant on the “nanny state”, do not want to work, want to continue to collect unemployment, welfare, food stamps, “gumbmint cheese”, want Obama to pay their mortgage…etc. etc… Then when the president agrees with you, your panties are all in a bunch?

The “we” above being the liberal side of the equation.
      ?
Being presidential means giving uplifting speeches, not complaining about and blaming us for the mess for which he is principally responsible.
      ?
How can he agree with us if he is the one “softening” the U.S., with increasing taxes, debt and a growing deficit as he flails to “fix” the economy (giving him the benefit of the doubt here)?

We can still blame our malaise on others.?
Such a change from those halcyon days of the feinting coeds of 2008. And didn’t that declaration of Christian faith look really sincere?? Empty suit.?

The look on Crystal’s presidents face is a look of contempt and hatred.

With a hefty mix of incompetence.

If America has?”gone soft” it is because of allowing people to feel “entitled” with no accountability or responsibility…..think: schools, unions,?over-indulgent social welfare programs, politicians who curry vots through pork etc. etc.?
Crystal, I hope you read Steve and my comments to you under the Morgan Freeman post.?

Gillie there isn’t much more to be said after you speak. All I can think of to add is just pull a tad harder and a bit longer.

  7. Common Man on October 1, 2011 at 12:06 am

Maybe he should stop spreading the tenderizer ie. unemployment, subsidies, bailouts, favorable loans etc.

America to Obama: “Takes one to know one”.

I think it was a warning for us to get ready because he’s going to make things a lot worse.

My dollars are a little soft.? Not so long ago I could take $25 and it would last all week for incidental spending; and now it’s $50 for gas, $20 for a nice 12 pack of? beer…? We’ve got to boil our water sometimes… I feel like I’m living in Obama’s Kenya.? And have we ever had a president with so many wacky illegal alien relatives??

  11. SeeingRed on October 3, 2011 at 10:25 am

Soft.? This from a guy that was given?an education from high school on up, and from someone that never, ever?had a job.? (Sorry, Community Organizer does not count for bupkus.)

  12. Lynn on October 3, 2011 at 3:46 pm

I don’t know maybe it’s just me, but I would prefer President Obama worried more about his tax and spend policies that obliterates jobs than a guy’s jacket.

  13. NH-Jim on October 6, 2011 at 12:34 pm

    I am not soft.
My back is stiff, my neck is tight, my jaw clenches as shards of enamel flake from the grinding molars.? My blood crystallizes with cold resolve.? My hands are fashioned into clenched fists of rage.? My opinions strengthen; I have no apologies for directness.? My words are just.? My heart pounds with pride for my country.? My will to protect it.
    I am not soft!
