As I read the news today I read these 2 articles in succession and can’t help but laugh.
In this article Harry Reid recounts an interaction where Obama tells him that he has a gift for public speaking.
“‘That speech was phenomenal, Barack,’ I told him. And I will never forget his response. Without the barest hint of braggadocio or conceit, and with what I would describe as deep humility, he said quietly: ‘I have a gift, Harry.’”
And the very next thing that I read is this story where Barack’s teleprompter breaks and he gets all screwed up.
Update (Jim): OK … you knew it had to happen … Obama’s teleprompter has responded to yesterday’s embarrassment. He should be ashamed. Ha!
Here is a transcript of our conversation today:
Big Guy: “In addition to John – sorry, the – I just noticed I jumped the gun here.”
TOTUS: “What? Why are you looking at those file cards? Who gave you those file cards? Ah crap.”Big Guy: “Go ahead. Move it up.TOTUS: “WT*! I am moving it up. When we get back to the office, we need to have a sit down …”

That IS funny – "my telepromter has a gift." However, Harry didn't finish the sentence, what Barak really said was "I have a gift, Harry, for the Prime Minister of England. A few old dvd's Michelle found when we were cleaning out in Chicago… Can't wait to see how he reacts to being insulted – plus, he's practically blind which will add injury to insult! It's so much fun being President."

Yeah, and Howdy Doody had a gift too: to say and do anything his owner made him say while manipulating him.
