Obama administration on ATF director’s status – Should he step down?

Jay Carney- the White House press secretary – was asked today if President Obama felt the acting ATF Director Ken Melson should step down in light of the Fast & Furious gunwalking program that seems to have been approved by high-ranking officials in the ATF, and/or the Department of Justice, and/or Homeland Security.

Carney would not comment on whether he thought Melson should step down. The video is from C-SPAN and courtesy CNSNews.com. The real question of course … Does the president think the ATF acted stupidly.

In related news, Hot Air notes Melson will be allowed to testify as part of some deal brokered by a couple of senators.

This guy should absolutely NOT step down until the entire mess has been brought before Congress and everything has been made public. ?He should be on leave until all the dust settles though. ?This is a big deal… we’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg here. ?Where does our Attorney General stand on all of this? ?He should be in the hot seat, answering LOTS of questions for us all!

    Where’s the transparency??

I agree with ricbee. Holder should be on the hot seat. Also, the question was “Does the president think that Melson should resign?” The answer should have been, we don’t know, we couldn’t tear Obama away from campaigning.? Obama…Campainer in Chief

It is not? matter of whether one ACTING-director or another person should resign, it is a question of getting the regime to come clean on this flagrant abuse of a government agency.
We will only get more of the same obfuscation from the current regime. They have been caught playing politics with the lives of good men and women! Obama, et al, will NOT come clean on this blatant abuse of the BATFE and American law until this becomes a national and international topic that is on every talking head show on the radio, newspapers and the television. Only when the current regime cannot hide any longer behind press flacks will something positive and revealing be accomplished.
Unless this abuse of the laws and the manipulation of the BATFE is front and center stage in everyone’s mind will anything be done to reveal the regime’s role in this matter. I have no doubt that Obama is fully involved in this abuse which, in my mind makes him guilty of murder.
Obama and his regime will ignore this issue until the media and the people press his regime to fully disclose everything about its involvement. Unless that happens, it will be business as usual.
I can hear a big Homer Simpson “Doouh!” coming…
