More bad firearm advice from Joe Biden – Shoot through a door

Actually, this could be criminal. If someone told you it was perfectly acceptable to fire a round through a door at a target you had not identified, how do you think that would go over?

More Vice President Joe Biden advice on self-defense strategies. First it was warning shots for the heck of it, and now we have the guy suggesting this? While on the discussion of modern sport rifles…

F&S: What about the other uses, for self-defense and target practice?

V.P. BIDEN: Well, the way in which we measure it is—I think most scholars would say—is that as long as you have a weapon sufficient to be able to provide your self-defense. I did one of these town-hall meetings on the Internet and one guy said, “Well, what happens when the end days come? What happens when there’s the earthquake? I live in California, and I have to protect myself.”

I said, “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.” Most people can handle a shotgun a hell of a lot better than they can a semiautomatic weapon in terms of both their aim and in terms of their ability to deter people coming. We can argue whether that’s true or not, but it is no argument that, for example, a shotgun could do the same job of protecting you. Now, granted, you can come back and say, “Well, a machine gun could do a better job of protecting me.” No one’s arguing we should make machine guns legal.

Actually in many US states, machine guns are legal. An extensive federal background check and fees are required, but you can certainly purchase a previously owned machine gun, just not a new one from a manufacture. They are very expensive, and yet with all of their purported firepower, they are rarely if ever used in a crime.

But that’s just one thing Biden got totally wrong. His argument that most people can handle a shotgun better than a semi-automatic weapon is complete fallacy. He’s wrong, dead wrong. It totally depends on the person and if you still don’t get it, maybe Biden should ask why law enforcement are moving to patrol rifles from shotguns? Different situations require different tools.

Then to top it all off by suggesting people shoot through doors before they identify the target? And who are these “scholars” he’s referring to?

As a reminder…

  1. Guns are always loaded.
  2. Never let the muzzle point at anything you are not willing to destroy.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
  4. Be sure of your target and what is in front of and beyond it.

Has VP Joe Biden become the political version of “Dear Abby” in regards to guns?

  2. Dimsdale on February 28, 2013 at 9:47 am

But you have to consider that, for Joe Biden, this would be a distinct improvement over his typical performance of shooting himself in the foot, which in his case, could lead to a head injury.

I will say it again: Biden is ?bama’s best insurance against impeachment proceedings.

Better check Joe’s backyard for Jehovah Witnesses , and don’t go trick or treating there.

Leave it to Joe Biteme to advise how best to waste the few bullets a lawful gun owner is going to be permitted.

I just checked and my entry doors are made of 20 gauge steel on both sides. I am afraid a shotgun might not successfully penetrate such a door. Therefore I will be using an AR 15.

Maybe Biden can be Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius’ lawyer.

Good fella Biden has moved from simple, village idiot to dangerous, felon idiot.

This is the inevitable result of too much alcohol and advancing dementia. He would deserve pity if he wasn’t a Democrat. How does his Secret Service detail ever keep a straight face?

I think his ailment is called “wet brain”.

If there’s a silver lining to this buffoon being vice president it’s that in four years he’ll become even less relevant then he is now, and anything he may say afterward will be worth even less then it now is. ?Hmmm, somehow that’s just not doing much for me right now though! ?

I think Joe needs to do two things:?
    1. Get Liability Insurance??if? (after his comments about shooting through and out of doors) some company would be stupid enough to sell him a policy.
    2. He should be required to take a firearm safety course.? He obviously is as dangerous with a firearm to his family, friends, and neighbors as Cheney with a shotgun.

    • Dimsdale on March 1, 2013 at 10:39 am

The lefties sure made fun of Cheney though.? Who would you rather see coming at you with a shotgun, Cheney, who accidentally tagged a guy standing in the wrong spot with some buckshot, or Biden, who, if he can figure out which end of the gun is which, would blow you away with his eyes shut?

    • JBS on March 1, 2013 at 12:35 pm

Technical point: The shot was described by doctors as approximately 0.1 inch in diameter or 2.5 mm. That would be consistent with #7 shot which is used for quail hunting, which is what Cheney was doing.

Buckshot is much larger. For example, double-O or OO-buckshot is ~.33 ” in diameter.
Cheney was involved in a hunting accident. Regrettable but part of the risk assumed when hunting.
      Biden is no accident.

Thanks for the correction!? Biden may not be an accident, but he is a joke!

isn’t that what south african blade runner pistorius did?? might this be his convenient defense?? call it the ‘biden defense’.

yadda yadda…I can see ol Joe chuckling behind doors saying “how many @$$holes do you think are actually going to do this one too?? I got some idiot to fire into the air and get arrested.? we get a few more of these and we can all start clamoring for shotguns to be taken away too!”
