Michelle Obama lets me know DNC Convention heading to Charlotte, NC
Some people think the location for a political parties national convention is a pretty big deal. It’s like any other big convention I guess … with millions and millions of revenue pouring into the city. Michelle Obama was kind enough to send me a note and let me know they are heading to Charlotte in Sept. 2012.
From the e-mail…
I am thrilled to make sure you are the first to hear some very exciting news. Charlotte, North Carolina, will host the 46th Democratic National Convention in 2012.
Charlotte is a city marked by its southern charm, warm hospitality, and an “up by the bootstraps” mentality that has propelled the city forward as one of the fastest-growing in the South. Vibrant, diverse, and full of opportunity, the Queen City is home to innovative, hardworking folks with big hearts and open minds. And of course, great barbecue.
Great barbecue? OK, I guess that works, but the first lady really wants to hear from the people concerning the people’s convention. It’s all about you don’t you know…
To help us make sure this is a grassroots convention — The People’s Convention — we need to hear from you. We want to know what you’d like to see at next year’s convention, how and where you plan on watching it — and the very best way we can engage your friends and neighbors.
So, please share your input with us right now — how can we make The People’s Convention belong to you and your community?
Yeah right … want to propose an “idea” on what you think? You’ll be required to provide your e-mail address of course, but I’m certain someone will read every idea you send in.
Let’s get this straight … this is just a big party to spend the millions and millions of dollars folks send to the DNC (and the RNC). When was the last time a convention of delegates actually did not already know the outcome prior to the convention? Can’t they just do all of this online?
Queue the monstrous Greek columns…

The Potemkin village of Charlotte, NC while Hartford, Detroit or some other war zone would better represent liberal utopia…
Steve, great point. I was thinking we should eliminate State Conventions and do an on-line Primary vote, with absentee ballots for those with no computers. However, I'm all for saving money, do away with those ridiculous national conventions for Republicans. I really don't care if the Democrats waste their money.
I'm surprised it won't be in Chicago.
Are we cleared to eat barbeque by Øbama mama's food police?
The First Lady should know that too much barbeque causes steatopygia.
