Michelle Malkin endorses Rick Santorum – Don’t be afraid of the conservative

This morning, Michelle Malkin published a well-thought post providing the conservative perspective as it applies to the four remaining GOP candidates for president. She will support former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) for president.

Malkin takes a logical path in support of a conservative, and you should not be afraid of supporting a conservative either. There are a lot of us out here, just take a look around.

There will never be a perfect conservative candidate to make everyone happy … it’s impossible. The caucus and primary process is designed to flush out what the GOP electorate is looking for and how we want to be represented. It’s unfortunate one focus is “can our guy beat the other guy.” Supposedly we have to pick some middle-of-the-road candidate that is not “too conservative” who won’t piss off the “moiderates” whose vote can supposedly float from a Democrat to a Republican on one issue alone. At least that’s what the media keeps telling me.

But why are we so concerned with the “middle 40 percent of moderate voters” when there is little proof they actually exist let alone represent 40 percent of voters?

The most recent Tarrance Group Politico George Washington University Battleground Poll tells us (again) that conservatives make up more than six out of 10 of Americans. Six out of ten!

Don’t be afraid of conservative ideas. The Nov. 10, 2011 Battleground Poll …

is a collaborative bi-partisan survey produced by Republican strategist Ed Goeas of The Tarrance Group and Democrat Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners. This national polling program is unique to the industry, in that it offers the distinct perspectives of two top pollsters from different sides of the aisle. Battleground Polls are conducted, not for the benefit of any paying client, but to give the public a look at Americans’ opinions and an inside peek at strategic recommendations for both political parties.

(As to party affiliation, the Nov. 2011 poll found 41 percent identified with Republicans, 43 percent with Democrats and 14 percent independents.)

This question is very important as it asks the ideology question differently than any other poll, by giving respondent two options if they are afraid of the conservative or liberal label. If there were so many independent thinkers out there that have to be fought over to win a general election, you would think more than 2 percent of the respondents would consider themselves to be moderates. Sixty one percent consider themselves very conservative or somewhat conservative.

Previous Battleground Polls (question D3) have shown a consistent result. Somewhere around six in 10 consider themselves very or somewhat conservative. By referencing this poll, I think I’m backing up Malkin’s position, but I certainly don’t think it’s my place to endorse anyone … I’m a nobody for goodness sakes.

Read the full Malkin post, and do check out all of the reference links. She concludes…

…at this point in the game, Rick Santorum represents the most conservative candidate still standing who can articulate both fiscal and social conservative values — and live them.

Santorum’s my man, but if he doesn’t get the nomination, I will happily vote for the Republican nominee this fall. Unless it’s Ron Paul, then I’ll pout and spitefully do what I can to screw up the election.

Job One is to send Barry home.? After three years of his ineptitude and America bashing, Homer Simpson is looking good!

D’ooh! A cartoon celebrity would be a step up from the caricature we have in the WhiteWash House now.
I look forward to the day when the Zer? is voted out and sent packing. That will be a cause for celebration.

Michelle Malkin makes a lot of sense. She has written long and in depth of the corruption of the liberals, ?bama, his regime and his friends now serving (themselves) as government functionaries.?
Events are revealing that Santorum is a much better candidate for the conservative vote. I fear Romney won’t repeal ?bamaCare should it be found lawful (ugh!) and inconvenient parts of the constitution (2nd Amendment) will be voided — along with enactment of the liberal wishlist of anti-gun legislation. Romney is a RINO. Newt, I fear, will self-destruct soon. Newt is too liberal for my liking.? He reminds me of McCain.

The MSM has not compared Romney to McCain specifically because they are desperate for him to be the Rep nominee.? There are differences certainly, but in general they are both big government insiders and yes, RINO’s. This is the Dems’ ideal candidate, as he would alienate conservatives, certain Christian sects, and anyone like me that is tired of having my rights taken away and being over-taxed for the privilege. MAYBE “anyone but Obama” will prevail, but I will have to hold my nose while I vote like so many others. ? ? ?

I see a market niche for selling large clothes pins at polling places.
      Certainly a WEB site

I’d like Rush to do the same.

I like Santorum but I get the feeling that he is that NASCAR racer who didn’t make it to be included in the “race to the finish” (to determine the Nextell cup winner) but wins the racesat the end of the season but nobody cares because he can’t win the cup.

    I don’t think she’s picking a winner.

You can not quote Michelle Malkin enough for me. Interestingly, my yahoo homepage had an article today. It said that the women voters in FL gave the election to Mitt Romney. Political pundits have said that so many Northerners have moved to FL, there is a large concentration of liberal voters there. However, the polls taken after the voting show that the majority of voters in FLA. did not think Romney was conservative enough. Interesting…..and so the story goes…

If Newt had a spark of decency he would quit & give his support to Rick.
