Hoffa’s “sons of bitches” is just the beginning of the attacks on the Tea Party

By now you’ve all heard, especially if you listen to the show this morning, Teamsters president Jimmy Hoffa’s famous “let’s take these sons of bitches out”, referring to the tea party. But it’s really just the beginning. Here’s a round up of video that I think pretty much proves my point.

The 1st video is via hot air and it’s Hoffa at his Obama Labor Day rally. I think it pretty much speaks for itself, and while you’ll notice there is an edit here, it is not out of context. It’s a long  bite, and the only portion removed is where Hoffa says we will fight for jobs jobs jobs. The true context of what he had to say remains intact.

The 2nd video is via hot air pundit, and it features VP Joe “bite me” Biden calling you, my little mobsters, barbarians at the gate. Keep in mind this comes just a couple weeks after he called members of the tea party terrorists.

And the last video is one I cut myself from hardball last week, where Huffington Post editor Howard Fineman warns listeners that this campaign will be down and dirty.

I argue with his point that it will be on both sides. So far the rhetoric and the violence seems to be pretty one-sided.

Having attended a number of Tea Party events, I have never heard a speaker utter a single attack on unions.? Tea Party rallies attack government officials and their policies but not unions.? Hoffa’s assertion of a Tea Party offensive against unions is simply a lie.
Biden?? The class clown clowning.? Only dimwits listen.

    • crystal4 on September 7, 2011 at 8:13 am

Plainvillian, guess you don’t listen to this show where union members are called “thugs” and vilified almost daily.

    • phil on September 7, 2011 at 9:06 am

Actually, thugs are called thugs.? Union membership is moot.

    • NH-Jim on September 7, 2011 at 10:37 am

Well, what do you call “people” who commit acts like this…?

    • Lynn on September 7, 2011 at 1:15 pm

Some union members are thugs, some aren’t.? I witnessed Union members being thugs and I call ’em as I see ’em, but I didn’t and wouldn’t say we should “take them out”. If you cannot see the difference between the two, then so be it!

Thugs that watch too many gangster movies.? Lowlife characters that think life is a cartoon.? That’s all they are.
    ?
No wonder unions are at their nadir.

    • crystal4 on September 7, 2011 at 8:13 am

      Case in point.

I guess young Mr Hoffa forgets that it was Democratic stronghold Bobby Kennedy who wanted to throw his father in jail.? I guess all is forgiven.

  5. rachel on September 7, 2011 at 5:40 am

Jim, while you got it correct in the title of this post, mini-Hoffa said it incorrectly (“son of a bitches”???).??
Distasteful little man, distasteful platform & horrible to listen to.? He may rate up there with Matthews in that regard.
Best thing that those of us affiliated with the Tea Party can do is to turn away from this angry, violence inciting rhetoric and not overreact.? Sit back & wait to see what these slimeballs bring forth for obama’s reelection.

I’m with Rachel. Let’s use Debbie Wasserman Shulz’s strategy (when asked about a comment to Hoffa as Democrat Committee spokesperson, and she refused and laughed at Gretchen on Fox) and laugh our butts off at this cartoon buffoon. The objective is to get rid of Obama. Let’s keep our eye on the ball.

Maybe the folks are starting to wake up.? Carney was asked about the incident during the election when a someone introducing McCain at a rally used “The One”‘s full name without the MMM-MMM-MMM at the end, the Obama campaign stated that they were offended by that speech and demanded and got?an apology from McCain.?

  8. Jerri on September 7, 2011 at 8:38 am

Jim, I asked Joe Courtney – at last night’s Town Hall meeting in Enfield (nasty drive up in the rain, I must say) – if he would take a stand and denounce the rhetoric of the CBC and Jimmy Hoffa.? He refused!? Joe stated that he, personally, does not engage in such speech, but that he has a policy of not engaging in the practice of ‘denouncing’.? Frankly, Jim, I thought I was handing him an opportunity!? I did not expect him to punt.

WASHINGTON, DC ? Congressman Joe Courtney today released the following statement after the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona:

“Gabrielle Giffords is one of the smartest, most caring members of Congress I know. We entered Congress the same year and have served together on the Armed Services Committee, where she has distinguished herself as a strong supporter of the Air Force and military families. I am praying for her and the other victims of today’s shooting. I condemn this dastardly attack on her and our democracy.”????

The video above is from Fox who spliced the speech and took words out of context.

    • winnie on September 9, 2011 at 6:21 am

How exactly do you take “son of a bitches” out of context?

    • HamHocks on September 9, 2011 at 2:58 pm

That’s not out of context. It’s the fact that they cut out “Everybody here’s got to vote” right before the part about taking people out so it looks like violent rhetoric rather than a politician trying to sound tough. ?This is all nonsense. It was nonsense when people were complaining about Palin’s crosshair graphics and it’s nonsense now. Everybody wants the right to say what they want until someone says something nasty about them. ?

    • winnie on September 12, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Jimmy Jr. is not a politician.? He’s a labor *leader* and he’s stated that he does not regret his choice of words.? Had it been a republican saying this, it would have been beaten to death in the mainstream media.? Bottom line is that the left screams for civilized discourse, but is unable to partake in it.

    • HamHocks on September 13, 2011 at 2:29 pm

There are countless examples of Republicans saying things that don’t get blasted in the media. And aren’t we finished using the term “mainstream media” at this point? What does that describe in a time when we have access to more information than ever? Look, I’m not telling you to not be upset at this guy’s words. ?I’m saying they’re just words. I don’t personally know anybody on “the left” who is unable to partake in civilized discourse. Or “the right”, for that matter. Are you describing people that you know or are you just reducing everyone’s political ideology into two halves?

2.? There are probably more T.E.A. Party?union members than Mr. Hoffa realizes or is willing to?admit.
