Global Warming? What Global Warming? Update: Gore questioned, organizers shut off microphone

Riddle me this, boys and girls — what was the hottest year on record?  2008?  2007?

Try 1998.

“This headline may come as a bit of a surprise, so too might that fact that the warmest year recorded globally was not in 2008 or 2007, but in 1998.

But it is true. For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures.

And our climate models did not forecast it, even though man-made carbon dioxide, the gas thought to be responsible for warming our planet, has continued to rise.”

So, just to reiterate, the globe hasn’t gotten any warmer and none of the climate models — the same models that predict disaster decades out if we don’t all immediately kow-tow to the whimsies and demands of the environmentalist movement — are wholly incapable of explaining what’s going on now.  Remind me again — why do we take these folks seriously?

Do they at least make a sally against their critics?

But research conducted two years ago, and published by the Royal Society, seemed to rule out solar influences.

The scientists’ main approach was simple: to look at solar output and cosmic ray intensity over the last 30-40 years, and compare those trends with the graph for global average surface temperature.

And the results were clear. “Warming in the last 20 to 40 years can’t have been caused by solar activity,” said Dr Piers Forster from Leeds University, a leading contributor to this year’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Would this be the same IPCC that keeps the likes of Briffa and Mann on their payrolls, cherry-picking their samples and making dire predictions based upon 12 trees out of a data-set of over 200?  Yes, yes it would.  Science is easy when you permit yourself the luxury of “bootstrap levitation” — just pull the answer you want out of the air and backfill your support the best you can.  If I sound cynical, it is because I’m old enough to remember their original product, “The Coming Ice Age.”

Of course, so do Obama’s science czar, Holdren, who predicted that billions would die by 2020 in “carbon-dioxide induced famines.”

Keep trying, Mr. Holdren — even a broken clock is right twice a day…

UPDATE (Jim): In light of this evidence that Dave talks about here … you might this little piece of video from Breitbart, global warming debunker and documentary producer (“Not Evil Just Wrong”) Phelim McAleer got the chance to finally ask Al Gore to explain the errors in his movie/slide show … Al Gore of course won’t answer the question … and the main stream media … shuts off McAleer’s mike. Very nice.

We are seeing more and more of this … silence dissent. Welcome to the brave new world.

When the BBC questions "global warming," you know there is some doubt:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8299079

Having said that, we humans have done some pretty short-sighted, greed-motivated damage to this planet.  Why are we so surprised by flooding issues when we have paved over flood plains with housing developments?  How can we NOT have environmental issues and bizarre sicknesses and diseases when we cut down our forests and jungles, limit and species of wildlife are forced to mix with people?

The Bible tells us we are entrusted to be caretakers of nature, not exploiters of it.  Don't get me started!!!

(you can't deport me for posting a link, Jim!!!!).

Global warming fanatics are like children being told that Santa Clause isn't real, and they have temper tantrums.  At least they still have their "Easter Bunny": Obama!

An objective comparison of the data and methods used by the AGW proponents show a singular lack of respect for real scientific method, and their persecution of so called "deniers" is akin to the worst any fundamentalist religion could dish out.

It is so sad to watch them squirm as the shaky data  that props up their hypotheses are pulled out from under them.  They have nothing holding them up now but their own petards.
