Expected: Obama will campaign to bail out Detriot

Why not? Certainly if the federal government can come in and write unique and precedent-setting bankruptcy rules for General Motors, they can do the same thing for Detroit. For those of you who think Detroit’s problems belong to the city and Michigan, you’re wrong. You’re going to end up paying for it.

From the aptly named Big Government.

Vice President Joe Biden said on Friday that the White House might bail out Detroit. He said White House officials held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the matter after Detroit became the largest city in U.S. history to file for bankruptcy.

To be fair, Biden said “he doesn’t know yet” if the federal government can help Detroit, but they are looking into it. During the 2012 presidential campaign, President Obama stated he refused to let Detroit go bankrupt.

We’re supposed to forget Obama’s campaign promises- just like we essentially forgot that he originally campaigned on the promise to cut the then $9 Billion deficit in half because such deficits are “unpatriotic”.? When his first major act after inauguration was to start campaigning for “Obamacare” it became clear to me that we had been duped.? This is a criminal regime we’re living under.? No law will hinder it in advancing its agenda- expect the taxpayer to9 ultimately bail out the union (only) rank and file of Detroit while the “news” media engages in a distraction campaign- probably more race baiting related to the Zimmerman verdict..

If a 9 billion dollar deficit is unpatriotic, then a 16 trillion dollar deficit must be positively traitorous.? By the president’s own standards, of course…

    • stinkfoot on July 22, 2013 at 12:16 pm

Traitorous is an appropriate characterization of his presidency in general so yes.? Had the MSM been doing its job instead of being criminally complicit in serving as the regime’s propaganda ministry, Biden would have been presiding over a lame duck session while Obama, Holder, Clinton, and others prepared defenses against criminal charges ahead of a victory by someone who was NOT a RINO, deliberately throwing the ballgame.? Of course that assumes that all the votes cast in November were actually counted- something I’m beginning to have doubts about.

Obama money once again? The stash is still active no?

Everything will be all right as soon as Obama arrives with the cash. Detroit is like the canary in the coal mine. Lots of smaller towns have failed, but Detroit is a large city, full of democrat voters who contribute to the democrat national convention. Obama can’t let payoffs — contributions — fall of like that!
Here’s a suggestion: Redirect all of the IRS, FBI, NSA, DIA, and Homeland Security resources being used to hound Tea Party types and get a RICO investigation going on why Detroit didn’t act on warnings of imminent demise years ago? The people who run Detroit knew this was coming. They certainly didn’t take a pay cut or miss any meals.
There has to be something criminal in how the people’s money was used. I am sure there are a lot of people in the Detroit government who will walk away from this bankruptcy with more money? than if they worked for it. I would bet that they are democrats.

Isn’t this the same administration that had a problem with helping out Texas with disaster relief not too long ago?

You think it has something to do with politics?

    • stinkfoot on July 23, 2013 at 11:59 am

You think anything pursued by this administration doesn’t?

As Margaret Thatcher would have said, Detroit ran out of other peoples’s money. ?Oh wait, there is a federal taxpayer in Tennessee who would love to send his money (via the federal government) to solve Detroit’s problems.

    • sammy22 on July 22, 2013 at 10:32 pm

Seems like Detroit ran out of people (population dropped by 25% in the last decade), not necessarily out of other people’s money.

    • essneff on July 22, 2013 at 11:14 pm

What’s the difference? Those people that fled were the other peoples money……. the same thing is happening in CT…….. the voters are just too dumb to see it……. my scheduled departure from over taxed and regulated CT is 9 months… You can?pay for the imagined utopia or maybe move to Detroit!

    • Steve McGough on July 23, 2013 at 6:29 am

Come now, you know it’s just an analogy. People MOVE before they become broke. They MOVE to find work, a better life, better schools, lower taxes… In effect, Detroit ran out of other people’s money since they could no longer get their hands on it.

    • bien-pensant on July 23, 2013 at 8:15 am

There are still plenty of people living in Detroit. For the time being, it is still a fairly nice city. Just wait, that will change.
Those who had the means to move (money in the bank, house to sell, kids done with school, etc) wisely moved some other place. Because they could! The people who are left are either trying to get out or just plain stuck. (There are the vultures feeding on the bones of Detroit) The people who moved had the money and they took it with them.
The exodus of Detroit citizens ranks high on the forced migration hit parade. 25% of the people, 1,000,000 men, women and children, 250,000 since 2010!

    Detroit is DEAD and GONE.

Hey President Obama when does the Hope come?
    ?

    • Dimsdale on July 24, 2013 at 12:20 pm

Right after the “seas begin to lower”…..

  8. Dimsdale on July 24, 2013 at 12:20 pm

If ?bama gives another bailout, Detroit will have zero incentive to clean up their acts and remediate their problems.? Subsidizing the lousy administration, high taxes etc. will only perpetuate them.
    ?
Detroit, like GM, NEEDS the bankruptcy to really fix the accumulated corruption that got it where it is today.? Anything else is a bandaid on a hemorrhage.

    You nailed it!

“George Carlin’s Greatest Moment” on You Tube tells it best. I rate it PG-13. Bankruptcy, like pollution, is the price we pay for the things we don’t want to give up.?Besides, how can God bless America when we’re becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah? No? I’m afraid to look back!

Jim had a caller yesterday who challenged wealthy blacks and Hollywood elites to invest some of their hard earned money in Detroit.
I wonder what the response will be from the socially conscious, green loving crowd?

    • Dimsdale on July 27, 2013 at 12:49 pm

It would be the same charitable sound of one hand clapping that liberals are famous for….
      ?
I would especially like that miserable puke Michael Moore to donate a significant amount of his prodigious wealth to the city that helped him accumulate his wealth.

    • bien-pensant on July 29, 2013 at 7:25 am

Ha! Like that would ever happen?
The Hollowwood elites might do a benefit for Detroit, by satellite, of course.
      ?
Then it would be back to va-ca in Cabo or the Med. A round of golf with prezzy?
Forget MM. He is in his mansion busy putting on weight.
      ?
