Dodd on Government Health Care: First we go after the smokers … then

First they came for the smokers … but we already know they are evil so that’s OK. But if you think it’s going to stop with the smokers you are oh so wrong. When the government becomes your health care provider … the government will control your lifestyle too. All of you … all of it. Senator Chris Dodd on how the universal plan will save money.

Dodd is now after smokers. How will he screw this up?

Cigarettes really should be outlawed. There is plenty of evidence to their destructiveness. Cigarettes are taxed to high heaven to raise money and make them more costly to deter smoking.

Very simple, appoint me the Cigarette Czar. All persons wanting to buy cigarettes need to get a Federal I.D. card. All sellers must get a Federal cigarette sales license. Those people that currently smoke can keep buying cigs as long as they live. Over time, cig mfgrs will see the sunset on their industry and can plan accordingly. Lower tax revenue will be reduced slowly over time. Plan accordingly. With no new smokers, eventually the industry will die.

At least he assured us that his wife, on three boards of medical "research" companies, will derive no benefit from her "husband's legislation."

Let em tax smoking, junk food. I have no problem with it at all. Those effected the most are the very classes that clamored for the dems in the election. If they are GETTING everything, they might as well pay every once while.
