Democrats new battle plan: go after the tea party, they’re are psychotic

What do you do when all of your Keynesian economic plans fail? What do you do when there are, dare I say, no more arrows in the quiver? What do you do when time and time again socialistic policies fail around the world? Why you make your attacks personal. 2 stories here and one video for your edification. Did you really think they’d give up that easily?

First this story from the Daily Beast on minority leader Nancy Pelosi’s new strategy. Go after the tea party.

Next” for Pelosi and the Democrats means changing the conversation to jobs, and making sure voters know that the Tea Party hijacked the debate.

Pelosi agrees that the Republicans won in Congressby framing the debate over raising the nation’s borrowing limit around the idea that the debt is everything. “But they didn’t win it with the American people,” she says. “I haven’t seen a poll yet that says, ‘Don’t tax the rich, we don’t want jobs, we just want to deal with this debt first, second, last, and always.’”

Stung by the outcome in Congress, Democrats are portraying the Tea Party as reckless extremists bent on destroying government. “If it was about the deficit, we can deal with it,” Pelosi said Wednesday during a gathering with reporters in her office. “This is about destroying the public space.” Everything from clean air and water to national parks and food safety and regulation will be compromised if the Tea Party gets the draconian cuts it wants. Saying this is a “fragile ecosystem” that we have, Pelosi personalized what’s at stake, saying, “I’m a mom and a grandmother talking now. Don’t mess with that.”

Then there is this from MSNBC and Martin Bashir video of the Weekly Standard. The  “lean forward” network decides to psychoanalyze the tea party. Why you folks are nothing more than petulant children who always wants her way and if something isn’t done to stop you you’ll become violent just like in Norway.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

If you can’t see the video the Weekly Standard has a transcript. But here’s one choice selection.

PEELE: Well, i’m looking at one beyond. they want no new taxes because they seek some kind of idyllic past. No new taxes won’t bring them, won’t bring them economic recovery so they will have to turn their attention to some other supposed method of attaining that until they go through all of them. Perhaps they can push through all of them. perhaps people become discontented and perhaps they will become discontented and people are likely to get riled up, and it could become a very angry movement could, potentially become a violent movement.

AP  at Hot Air has a perfect round up an analysis of really both the article and video. Projection!

I recommend watching it twice, the first time to take it in and the second time to focus on Peele’s criticism as an almost preternaturally perfect case of projection. We’re $14 trillion in debt, we’re at serious risk of a credit downgrade, we just had an epic congressional battle over a bill that ensures we’ll “only” add another $6 trillion in debt over the next 10 years, and the driver of all of this — entitlements, and specifically Medicare — is the one thing the left will never, ever, evah compromise on. Yet somehow this guy musters the stones to say this:

“Well, the way I think about it is they are pursuing goals that can’t be achieved. It’s sort of like a child who has some kind of fantasy, and they keep asking you to give them things to acquire that, but it’s impossible to arrive at the goal that they want. The idyllic paths that they are pursuing probably never existed and certainly not something we can reach right now.”

Be prepared my little terrorists, it’s going to get rough out there.

They have to go after the TEA party: they truly represent the people, the job that Congress seems to have forgotten about.
    ?
Notice how all of the attacks are typical reductio ad absurdum: “no” clean air, “no” national parks, “no” taxes for the rich, “no” food safety, yadda, yadda, yadda.? In other words, their usual scare tactics. ? This demonstrates that the only way a liberal/progressive/socialist can win an debate is by marginalizing their conservative opponents, a la Saul Alinsky.? If they had valid arguments, they would use them.? But they can’t.? They can’t win on the merits of socialism.? They can’t run on their record of economic success.? They can’t win on their record of success in just about anything except making government bigger and bigger in the hope of solving problems that can never be solved, because then, we don’t need them.
    ?
The TEA party is cutting out the middleman and saying “we don’t need them” now!!

Jim, just posted it over at Free Republic:

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2758480/posts

Could the Democrats be going now into “attack mode” because they KNOW the have lost the argument??

  3. Anne-EH on August 4, 2011 at 8:42 am

Sadly, when the librals have no position to present, they go into attack mode.

Also here is the Free Republic posting of this article:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2758480/posts?

Maureen Dowd is obviously queen of bad analogies.?
And Peele, the author of a book on addiction, is the best MSNBC’s Bashir could do for an interview?? It would be interesting if Peele were to psychoanalyze the Democrats addiction to spending & the way they, like petulant children, have pushed through legislation that most American people did not want (obamacare).? If I recall correctly, there was no debate to be had when it came to that.? Pelosi saying, “We have to pass it so you can see what’s in it” isn’t childish?? C’mon.

    • Eric on August 5, 2011 at 6:50 am

Maureen Dowd is a pinhead! ?

  5. GdavidH on August 4, 2011 at 11:10 am

A little off topic but related to the FAA post by the SOS. I was clicking around the “news” channels yesterday and saw this. I also saw Martin interview a Dem congressman, whose name I can’t recall, about the FAA shut down. This congressman mentioned Washington National airport, “sometimes called Reagan national”.
    Man, these Dems got problems!
    I changed the station.?

  6. mynoc3 on August 4, 2011 at 11:22 am

Is this guy a psycologist or an economist?? What would he say if we took economic advice from someone without a background in it?? He thinks the tea party controls the symbolism, it wasn’t them who uses the words ?revenue for taxes, terrorists for tea party, or “bump in the road” for recession.

  7. sammy22 on August 4, 2011 at 11:53 am

If I were a member of the Tea Party, I would declare victory and tone down the rethoric.

    • Dimsdale on August 4, 2011 at 12:21 pm

It would appear that all of the rhetoric is coming from the left, e.g. the current “hostage” talking point and the aforementioned gun analogies.

  8. Dimsdale on August 4, 2011 at 12:26 pm

This is purest psychobabble, or what we like to call in science: crap.?? As any attorney knows, you can hire a psychologist/psychiatrist to give any opinion you like.? In this case, the guy is even more full of horse puckey because he hasn’t examined a single member of the TEA party, and is only venturing his opinion, which is clearly biased.? Maybe he just got freed up from making Casey Anthony look like a good mother!
    ?
Any of his speculations would be applicable, and more appropriately, to liberals, who are petulant children when they can’t get what they want, and are renowned for violence and rioting when pulled from the gov’t teat.? See Greece and Great Britain recently.

  9. sammy22 on August 4, 2011 at 2:52 pm

It seems to me, Dims, that the people who post on this blog do not read what they write.

    • Dimsdale on August 4, 2011 at 2:57 pm

      Specifically?

  10. sammy22 on August 4, 2011 at 3:19 pm

If you cannot recognize the sneers, insults and putdowns in your 12:26 post above, then I have nothing else to add. When it comes to Tim from Alabama he’s off the chart, and he is by no means alone.

    • Dimsdale on August 4, 2011 at 9:07 pm

So a psych person making a derogatory evaluation/diagnosis without seeing a single person is “sneering, insulting and a putdown”?
      ?
You bet your sweet bippy it is.? He should be laughed off the street.

  11. Tim-in-Alabama on August 4, 2011 at 3:55 pm

This name calling from Nazi Pelosi4 and messnbc is quite … unexpected. It’s ironic that UK native Martin “Bash ’em” Bashir22 comes to America to ply his trade and reports a story smearing a political movement that has never espoused violence and whose members likely wouldn’t even speak rudely to him in a debate, What if, however, he chose to move to Pakistan, his parents’ homeland, and report on actual terrorists and their sympathizers there? Since he’s a convert to Christianity, he wouldn’t even have to report on the terrorists for his family and him to face the very real prospect of murder. The main aspect of the messnbc report that is really strange is how it projects the behavior of typical Democrats ? the insanity; violence; unwillingness to compromise; blind, seething hatred; lying; name calling; wearing tiger suits while attacking a donor’s daughter; etc. ? onto TEA Party members. Until Dems recognize they have a problem with sneers, insults and putdowns, no amount of therapy will help them regain a small slice of sanity.

    • crystal4 on August 5, 2011 at 6:27 am

wow..good example of why you shouldn’t drink and blog.

    • Dimsdale on August 5, 2011 at 8:16 am

      We forgive you.

  12. GdavidH on August 4, 2011 at 4:08 pm

    To Dims and Tim,

    ?Glad you’re on my side.?

  13. gillie28 on August 4, 2011 at 5:49 pm

Could say a few things about Maureen Dowd, but don’t want to make anyone liable for libel (although if it’s true, guess it’s not libellous!!!!!?? Suffice it to say, she isn’t a “journalista” because of any talent.
I’m amused by the attacks on? “Tea Partiers.”? Terrorists, Mr. Biden??????? Good grief, that just trivializes the term.? I’ve heard them called “anarchists,” “extremists,” “idiots,” etc. etc.? Since i went to one rally, and (as far as I know) there’s no membership, are they talking about moi?? Hmmm, where’s a decent lawyer when you need one?? Hey, SOS!

Really, those who indulge in name-calling just demonstrates a lack of smarts, maturity?and principle.? What has happened to this country in the two years I’ve been absent??????? YIKES!

    • Dimsdale on August 4, 2011 at 9:10 pm

Tongue in cheek trumps foot in mouth every time!? 😉

  14. gillie28 on August 4, 2011 at 5:50 pm

p.s. How’s that debt ceiling legislation working out?? Only 500 + down on the Dow

  15. gillie28 on August 4, 2011 at 5:51 pm

pps,.? If the Tea Party (hate labels) hadn’t been so grass-roots organized and vociferous, the debt celing would have soared without comment and without boundaries.

    • GdavidH on August 4, 2011 at 11:58 pm

      Grass roots?

Did you not get the lefty?yapping points memo about the Koch brothers funding the TEA party?

      ?Silly you.? ?

    • crystal4 on August 5, 2011 at 6:03 am

yeah, that’s just a myth..a “lefty yapping point”. Sigh, lambs to slaughter…

    • Dimsdale on August 5, 2011 at 8:18 am

Good response, crystal!?? Too bad for your argument that it is ?bama that is running the slaughterhouse for the whole country.

  16. gillie28 on August 4, 2011 at 5:53 pm

ppppppps. And how many legislators actually READ those 75 pages before they voted?? Sorry, just want the entire, sorry bunch of them in Washington thrown out.

  17. gillie28 on August 4, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Sammy, I really enjoy your posts, but you have to know that Tim from Alabamy is pure tongue-in-cheek (sorry to out you, Tim :))

  18. Plainvillian on August 4, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Isn’t it real insanity to pursue and promote socialism as the democrats have and expect anything other than the ruin that collectivism has visited on every nation that has tried it?? Or is it cognitive dissonance for sheer power?

  19. crystal4 on August 5, 2011 at 6:24 am

The Republican Party has lost any chance of taking back the presidency because of the Tea Party’s antics. They are self-destructing.?

    • Eric on August 5, 2011 at 6:47 am

Nonsense! ?The Tea Party is speaking for the majority of Americans who’ve had no voice in Washington for far too long! ?They’re the reason we’re finally winning a few battles. There’s no one in DC with the political will that can match what these people have been able to do in such a short period of time. ?You cannot compromise with a bully, and the left is learning that lesson right now. ?Why else do you think they’re so upset??

    • Dimsdale on August 5, 2011 at 8:20 am

Then why aren’t you happy and supportive of them, crystal?? According to you, they will hasten the ?bama led transition to that socialist utopia we have been promised!

  20. Eric on August 5, 2011 at 6:41 am

Rush once said that watching the political left when they’re out of power is just like watching a three ringed circus. ?He was right… and, I might add, that when they don’t get their own way, they’ll say and do the dumbest things. ?Just look at their behavior over these past few weeks. They really don’t know how to act when they’re on the losing end of an argument. ?

  21. Lynn on August 5, 2011 at 8:00 am

Peele is so unprofessional in his diagnosis that he doesn’t even deserve a comment. However, to the above comment, as a member of the Republican Party, since I first registered and that’s a long time. Nothing has made me happier than the work of the Tea Party to frame the issues and fight for them. I hope GOP and Tea Party can form a strong union (ironic choice of words).? I don’t mean for the Tea Party to take a backseat, I mean for them to take the leadership!? GOP is and has been part of the problem. As for McCain’s comments running on the bottom script, has he ever read the Hobbit or the Lord o the Rings? Hobbits were quiet mild mannered farmers, that kept to themselves. It was the rebellious Sam, Bilbo and his buddies that were courageous and steadfast to the cause of casting out the Ring and ending it’s powerful, deadly hold on the world. But entirely honorable and decent to the end. No wonder we lost to Obama with that weak kneed idiot and he’s illiterate.

  22. Lynn on August 5, 2011 at 8:25 am

OK, I’m getting like Crystal and writing a post before I think it all the way through. The first part I am totally sincere. However, when I reread the part about McCain, it occurred to me he might have meant hobbits as a compliment. In this day of sound bites and partial quotes, we don’t know unless we hear his whole quote.? McCain is a war hero of the highest quality. Tolkien wrote The Hobbit and LOTR after serving in WWI. If he meant it as a compliment, I sincerely apologize. He was well-meaning but had no fire to take on the established policies and idiocy of the media. I know no one else cares about this except me, but Tolkien’s work was extraordinary and had a passion that captured my heart.

    • TomL on August 5, 2011 at 8:32 am

Lynn, I’ve read the books and loved them, your not alone.

    • crystal4 on August 5, 2011 at 8:44 am

Need to insult me with every post?
Lynn, McCain was quoting a WSJ article that criticized the Tea Party (yeah, even the WSJ).

  23. Lynn on August 5, 2011 at 8:32 am

PS. Just googled his speech. He is a war hero and I respect him for that. But, he is a dinosaur in the political scene.

  24. sammy22 on August 5, 2011 at 11:43 am

@Gillie28. If you think that Tim’s comments are “tongue in cheek”, God help us. I have been wondering if the insulting comments are read to one’s spouse and children, just for “fun”.

    • Dimsdale on August 5, 2011 at 12:18 pm

Care to read the things said about the TEA party (the actual subject of this post) to YOUR family?

    • Tim-in-Alabama on August 5, 2011 at 12:40 pm

Always bringing God into discussions, but God will know his own.

    • Dimsdale on August 5, 2011 at 6:45 pm

There are no atheists in an economic foxhole!

  25. sammy22 on August 5, 2011 at 7:03 pm

The members of my family, Dims, are adults. They can make their own decisions.

    • Dimsdale on August 5, 2011 at 7:21 pm

I merely made the same assumption you did.? You are the one that brought up reading comments to children.

  26. PatRiot on August 5, 2011 at 9:27 pm

When DC starts to pick on you or try to tear you down, you know they are worried. And that you are on the right track.?
-? Martin Bashir should have asked Dr. Peele about Washington’s addiction to spending and how to break that addiction.?? But it was never his intent to do so.
-? Pelosi makes me laugh.? Without fixing the debt problem she will leave her kids and grand kids the bill.? They will be too busy paying down the debt to worry about the environment.?
The T.E.A. Party doesn’t fit with either party’s plan.? The debt ceiling would have been raised without a bit of notice if not for the T.E.A. Party.? The bipartisan spending would have rolled right along.?
And all the Taxed Enough Already Party?is doing is offering another solution to the problem.???There?ARE more than 2 ways to solve this problem.? So why the attacks?? Why the hate speech of Maureen Dowd? Nobody seems upset that the Progressives have taken the Democratic party out of the majority of liberals hands?

  27. sammy22 on August 5, 2011 at 9:46 pm

I stopped digging. Maybe you should too.

    • Dimsdale on August 5, 2011 at 10:46 pm

And let the pols dig our economic grave?? I think not.
