Democrat Senators vote to pad Federal paychecks. Hold Defense Department hostage

I’m telling ya, you lefties are in for a shock come November. And please, don’t ever, ever call the show when the Republicans take over, and complain about spending. This is world class.

The Democratic-controlled Senate on Saturday turned back a Republican effort to block a final vote on a huge end-of-year spending bill that rewards most federal agencies with generous budget boosts.

The $1.1 trillion measure combines much of the year’s unfinished budget work — only a $626 billion Pentagon spending measure would remain — into a 1,000-plus-page spending bill that would give the Education Department, the State Department, the Department of Health and Human Services and others increases far exceeding inflation.

But it’s not just the money, it’s the legislative tricks they used to “hide” the spending details. The bill combines mandatory spending on Medicare and Medicaid with a host of pork projects plus fat raises fro Federal employees.

It wraps together six individual spending bills and also contains more than 5,000 home-state projects sought by lawmakers in both parties. The measure provides spending increases averaging about 10 percent to programs under immediate control of Congress, blending increases for veterans’ programs, the NASA space agency and the FBI with a pay raise for federal workers and help for car dealers.

But here’s the best part. This spending bill excludes the funding for the Defense Department. Why you ask? Because the Democrats will hold it hostage as a way to get past some unpopular stuff later.

Just the $626 billion defense bill would remain. That’s being held back to serve as a vehicle to advance must-pass legislation such as a plan to allow the government’s debt to swell by nearly $2 trillion.

Oh, and what’s in this little trillion dollar gem? The bill:

  • lifts a ban on federal funding of abortions in DC
  • overturns a ban on federal funds for needle exchanges in DC
  • kills the school voucher program in DC
  • permits GITMO detainees to be transferred to the US

To summarize … the Democrats stand for using your money to terminate babies, provide funds for junkies, eliminate the one school program that actually offered inner city kids real hope and change in their education, and cleared the way for terrorists to be transferred to the United States.

Hope and change my bothers and sisters. Hope and Change.

I was going to say they are drunk with power (or is it the "medicinal" marijuana?), but this transcends inebriation into full fledged insanity.  Or are the libs simply mindless lemmings, walking lock step (or is it "knee jerk"?) over the political cliff, and taking all of us with them?  You know they are nuts when Dodd misses a fundraiser attended by Biden to make these votes.

They are walking cases of "absolute power corrupting absolutely".  I don't care how short the attention span of the average American is, this kind of spending will be remembered because the results will be in our faces for decades to come.  Maybe longer.

I just hope that we can elect some clear thinking majorities that will be able to undo the carnage that these buffoons are creating.

(Barney or Al) Frankenstein's monster, anyone?
