Democrat claims conservatives & Newt Gingrich continue to use racist “code words”

Yeah, yeah, yeah … we’ve heard it all before. GOP candidate for president Newt Gingrich labeled President Obama the “food-stamp president,” igniting the flame of racism among conservatives. Not only do whack-job socialist U.S. representatives get into the act, CNN anchor Martin Bashir stokes the fire himself by highlighting this crap and agreeing with her.

Hat tip to Sister Toldjah, who points us to the transcript over at Fox Nation. Do I even need to tell you the “Lee” in this transcript is Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas)? My emphasis is in bold, and note how Bashir drives the conversation highlighting Lee’s quote. (Scroll down for video.)

BASHIR: Let me play something that you said about the current GOP debate on the floor of the house on Wednesday. Just listen. I think what you said and what I was hoping to run is we find candidates like Newt Gingrich who simply want to throw fuel and matches on fire to develop sort of an explosiveness in this country that is unnecessary. To suggest that president Obama is the food stamp president has underlying suggestions. What did you mean by underlying suggestions?

LEE: These are code words. It’s inappropriate.

BASHIR: Did you mean racist?

LEE: Let me say that the code words, as far as I’m concerned words that generate and signify race. Comments made by someone other than the president when he was a candidate caused him to make a significant speech on race to say race is a factor in the United States, but I work and will represent all people. Here we have Newt Gingrich, taking the opposite road, if you will. It’s I will use race to divide. I will call the president the food stamp president not knowing that food stamps are utilized by our soldiers, utilized by Kau Kaig caucasians more than African- Americans. Telling the us a janitor who makes $37,000 would be in a better position to give his job up so that the children of the poor in New York, I think he used the example, the school district Latino and African-American can pick up a broom and work. We know those children should have an opportunity to be an astronaut, scientist. we’re not against work. these children want work. They are fighting for summer jobs. That’s a code word to, if you will, portray poor children and poor school districts that they have seen no one work legitimately. That they don’t have a work ethic and these janitors are overpaid unionized workers who don’t have family and not making $37,000 a year. I think Mr. Newt Gingrich should be ashamed of himself and we should not want to win at any cost. Let’s bring the country together. Let’s not destroy Mr. Obama. Let’s talk about helping the American people.

Of course, when Democrats put Obama into the driver’s seat in 2008, there were plenty of liberals pointing out the Great Recession and the economic slide during the last couple of years of President Bush’s (43) administration … a vote for McCain would be a continuation of that slide. I’m willing to bet you could find an article or speech by a Democrat pointing to the increase in food stamp need during the Bush administration.

Of course now that we have a liberal communist in the White House – and he happens to be black – any mention of the economic downward slide represented by the number of Americans who are now receiving government aid in the form of food stamps is a racist attack on the president and black Americans. What else could it be?

Jackson is a fruitcake. Let’s make her head explode with the following chart from Associated Press. Note half of food stamp recipients are white.

Typical Democrat race baiting. Jimmy Carter was spreading this crap over the weekend as well. I hear people say, “Jimmy Carter is a nice guy, but he wasn’t a very good president.” He’s not a nice person. He’s as big a creep as Lee and the rest of the gang.

  2. Dimsdale on January 23, 2012 at 11:12 am

Isn’t it funny how it is only Democrats that see “racism” under every stone, or in this case, in every word uttered by a conservative?? It is called “projection” in psychology.
    ?
It is just another way for them to try and put conservatives on the defensive when the lib is losing an argument.?? Expect a lot of that in this election.

    • crystal4 on January 23, 2012 at 11:26 am

Not only the Democrats. Newt and Santorum being Catholic, the church felt it had to weigh in on this sort of “dog whistle” politics.

As far as that comment about the majority of food stamp recipients being white…Newt knows that, I’m sure…but remember he started this stream of campaigning by saying that BLACK PEOPLE should be instructed to demand jobs, not food stamps. (go ahead, google)
My fave tweet last week was someone (not a dem) who said “those dogs r no longer whistling, they howling”

I looked all over the following excerpted quotes, and I don’t see a racial reference anywhere (http://www.npr.org/2011/12/07/143301568/a-look-at-gingrichs-comments-about-the-poor and http://articles.latimes.com/2011/dec/01/nation/la-na-1202-gingrich-child-labor-20111202):
      ?
NEWT GINGRICH: OK. You say to somebody: You shouldn’t go to work before you’re, what, 14, 16 years of age. Fine. You’re totally poor. You’re in a school that is failing with a teacher that’s failing. I’ve tried for years to have a very simple model. Most of these schools ought to get rid of the unionized janitors, have one master janitor and pay local students to take care of the school.
      ?
      ?
GINGRICH: Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works. So literally, they have no habit of showing up on Monday. They have no habit of staying all day. They have no habit of I do this and you give me cash – unless it’s illegal.
      ?
As you state, the majority of food stamp recipients are white, so how are the above quotes construed as racist?
      ?
Or is it simply (stupidly) that any criticism of ?bama is racist?

    • William on January 25, 2012 at 9:13 am

That letter is not from the Church. It’s from a?progressive religious group called Faith in Public Life.??

    • Dimsdale on January 29, 2012 at 1:08 am

      Even better!? 😉

  3. JBS on January 23, 2012 at 12:15 pm

The Regime, Lee included, has to portray Newt as a racist. If he does become the GOP nominee, you can see the Left demagogue and demonise Newt. He will be charged with the most outrageous and heinious “crimes”.
When Democrats have nothing substantive to say, they will resort name calling and invective. Every time.

  4. crystal4 on January 23, 2012 at 12:26 pm

“And so I?m prepared, if the NAACP invites me, I?ll go to their convention and talk about why the African-American community should demand paychecks and not be satisfied with food stamps” Gingrich
Was easy, Dimsdale…no answer to the church’s criticism?
Oh and BTW, Santorum, seeing how this is boosting Gingrich in the south said he doesn’t? make black people?s lives better by giving them somebody else?s money.?
Anyway, you are pointing at me and dems., why no criticism of the church’s take on this, Dimsdale?

    • Dimsdale on January 23, 2012 at 12:54 pm

You have to consider the audience: who was Gingrich talking to?? The NAACP, which has a name that is racist in itself.? Santorum denies saying what some wanted to hear (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/rick-santorum-to-john-king-i-didnt-say-black-people-i-said-blah-people/), and on listening, you really have to want to hear “blacks” in that vid.
      ?
I have no trouble criticizing the church, which is highly oriented towards liberals and the admission of illegals.? They are wrong, mistaken, suffering under a misconception.? You pick it.?
      ?
Will you pay as much attention to the church’s opinion on their being forced to provide insurance for free contraceptives?? 😉

    • Dimsdale on January 23, 2012 at 2:34 pm

And I do? not see a single thing wrong with your Gingrich quote.

    • crystal4 on January 23, 2012 at 5:12 pm

No, I know..stereotyping is something you seem to be blind to.

    • Dimsdale on January 24, 2012 at 1:34 am

On the contrary: you (and Ms. Lee) are doing a spectacular job of stereotyping conservatives!

    • Eric on January 23, 2012 at 7:45 pm

Why do some people call the black community the “African-American community?” These people are from America, not Africa! ?Who calls white communities “European-American?” ?Why don’t we simply refer to each other as AMERICANS, which is who we all are? ?It seems as if ?liberals will go out of their way to hyphenate/divide people into specific groups? ?Some of them even hyphenate their last names, as if anyone cares. ? ? ?

    • NH-Jim on January 24, 2012 at 10:51 am

Thanks, Eric.? Now I no longer need to write: “Irish-English-Lithuanian-Whatever” on any form.? By classifying me as “White” is just as offensive.
      ?
I agree, the liberals are dead-set on the labeling/hyphenating of classes as it segregates people into groups for the benefit, promotion, profit, and expansion of their twisted ideology.
      ?
By the blunt fact that Bashir and Lee place the derogatory nature of the phrase “Food stamp President” on the African-American community without regard towards ALL who receive assistance is, in itself, racism.? They disregard the other ‘half’ of the ethnicities.

    • Dimsdale on January 25, 2012 at 11:11 am

I just put “American” for the ethnicity questions on the census and elsewhere.? Or “refused”.

  5. Lynn on January 23, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Rep. Lee should be embarrassed for using the decoder ring out of a box of Cracker Jacks to come up with her “codes”. Dimwit

    • Dimsdale on January 23, 2012 at 12:56 pm

She is still looking for the place astronauts landed on Mars!? Not the brightest bulb on the tree, by any estimation.
      ?
Was it racist to say that?? Probably.? I think the code word was “brightest”!?? 😉

    • JBS on January 23, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Dims, if someone on the left wants to make political hay out of any comment, you know that they will. The left is engaged in a political war (they are fighting for their political lives) for their control of the money and the power. Expect every dirty trick in the Democrat play book.
In any war, truth is the first casualty. Followed closely by civil discourse.

    • Eric on January 23, 2012 at 7:52 pm

Sheila Lee has no shame at all and therefore cannot be embarrassed. ?She’s a very ignorant person with a huge chip on her shoulder, which makes for a very poor excuse for a Congressman… or an ex-Congressman!

    • Dimsdale on January 25, 2012 at 11:12 am

That “chip” is her head!? 😉

  6. Eric on January 23, 2012 at 7:29 pm

Racist code words? ?The liberals are definitely beginning to crack up! ? ?

  7. ricbee on January 23, 2012 at 10:56 pm

Virtually the only racists left are black or their other color lovers.

  8. crystal4 on January 24, 2012 at 9:38 am

Yeah, the right only talks about “blah” people! LOL? Oh, and I do not believe “blah” is a protected status.

    • Dimsdale on January 24, 2012 at 10:16 am

No, they talk about the more generic “poor people” which the liberals twist into some racist remark.? Liberals apparently assume that only blacks can be poor.? Or hispanics.?

    • crystal4 on January 24, 2012 at 10:28 am

Gee thanks, Dims! So when I thought Santorum said “black” you corrected me and said, no..he said “blah”…so “blah” means poor. And when Newt said he would like to talk to the NAACP about food stamps, I assume that now the NAACP is an association of “blah” (poor) people now. OK

    • Dimsdale on January 24, 2012 at 11:54 am

You are entirely welcome!? If you hear “black”, despite what others say, then so be it.? Of course, when Gingrich says “poor” you hear “black” too, so maybe you aren’t the best reference to cite on this.?
      ?
If Gingrich goes to the NAACP, should he talk about the plight of poor hispanics or poor whites?? Has the NAACP started representing hispanics or other non black groups?? If so, I stand corrected.

  9. Lynn on January 24, 2012 at 11:03 am

    Spin, spin, spin
    ?

    • crystal4 on January 25, 2012 at 7:23 am

I know. Dimsdale can’t help it.

    • Dimsdale on January 25, 2012 at 11:09 am

LOL!? And you can’t counter anything I said.? It isn’t spin when it’s true!

    • Lynn on January 25, 2012 at 2:23 pm

I would NEVER suggest that Dimsdale spins. He has facts and figures to back up everything he writes. I have learned much from him about posting links, but sometimes I don’t know how, if it’s from a news broadcast. Will keep trying….No fear there

  10. crystal4 on January 25, 2012 at 6:34 pm

Yeah, facts and figures! Like his insistence that Santorum said “blah people”. I’ve learned a lot? too,? LOL.

    • Dimsdale on January 25, 2012 at 10:18 pm

I simply answered your accusation with the opinions of others.? Santorum denied it, and the tape doesn’t really clear up the issue.
      ?
Now how about doing me the courtesy of addressing your comments (and mine) about what Gingrich said?
