Debbie Wasserman Schultz: unemployment has not gone up under Barack Obama

I saw this yesterday morning just before leaving work and was so stunned that I guess I just forgot to mention it. But it’s well worth noting that when it comes to politics the motto is just say anything to keep your man in office.

I’ll let you watch the video 1st, then I’m going to add some commentary from Ed Morrissey over at hot air who follows the economy probably better than anyone. But suffice it to say the new DNC chair either doesn’t have a clue, or misunderstood the question.

httpv://youtu.be/HQW8elNLqJQ

The numbers are as plain as the lines in front of an unemployment office. Bur rather than have me explain it here is the breakdown from Ed Morrissey over at hot air.

  • Jobless rate in January 2009: 7.8%.  Jobless rate in November 2011: 8.6%.
  • Number of employed in January 2009, in thousands: 133,563.  In November 2011: 131,708
  • Civilian participation rate in January 2009: 65.7%.  In November 2011: 64.0%
  • Unemployment level in January 2009, in thousands: 11,984.  In November 2011: 13,303
  • Number of people not in labor force, January 2009, in thousands: 80,554.  In November 2011: 86,558
Oh yes there is more. And there is absolutely nothing to back up what DWS had to say. My guess is she was trying to draw a distinction between the fact that unemployment has gone up and is now beginning to come down. But say that unemployment has not gone up since Barack Obama took office is a boldface lie. Not to mention the fact that she said unemployment is almost at the point. True, but only if by close she means almost a full percentage point.
Compound that with the fact that the most recent unemployment numbers are about as phony as they can get, because the number dropped only because hundreds of thousands of people gave up looking for work, not because the economy added an astronomical number of jobs.

I’m going to download that video and go down to the unemployment offices and the lines at the Social Services Agency’s where people are applying for the emergency?storm funds and show the unwashed?masses how well off the socialist elite think they are.

One of my favorite characters on one of my favorite shows. Very apt for DWS.

I think Fox is inadvertantly jumping the shark by having her on and getting into verbal jousts.? It’s a waste of time, not amusing and least of all, not surprising (what she espouses).?

It’s kind of academic though. I mean, she can say anything that she wants to say – the question is, who is buying it (repub want dirty water/air, want granny to die, want to end/cut Medicare, etc.)? Her core/base voters (30%) are going to vote for Barry no matter what. Is she trying to convince anyone outside of that group with her rhetoric (ok, lies)? ? She’s in politics.

      Hahahahaha!

Starting in Jan. 2008, labled “republican policies”.

DEM majority in both houses of congress. Pathetic!???

    • Dimsdale on December 13, 2011 at 11:10 am

Exactly.? As I demonstrated in a much earlier post, it is who controls the Congress that correlates most closely with economic performance.?

    • JBS on December 13, 2011 at 8:59 pm

Great link! It looks like, you said it, a bikini chart! So, this is the Regime’s proof that the Republicans are to blame for their economic policy woes? I love it.
Ha, ha, ha, . . . this campaign is going to be full of laughs if the Regime puts up charts like this for public consumption.
What is shows is how Marxism effects an economy.

  5. Jeff S on December 13, 2011 at 9:55 am

So I guess the next DWS will say is that the economy has been purring along since zero went into office.?

  6. Anybody but Obama on December 13, 2011 at 10:04 am

Jeff she did say that the dems own the economy so it must be purring along.(according to their grand master plan)

  7. Dimsdale on December 13, 2011 at 11:11 am

It really demonstrates that the Democrats and ?bama have NOTHING to run on, except failure, and now, lies.? DWS is perfect for this.? Wasn’t it George Costanza who said “it’s not a lie if you believe it is the truth”?

    • Bellringer on December 17, 2011 at 5:23 pm

      Merry Christmas Dims,
I’m not sure what I find more disturbing.? Either she believes the lies she’s telling, or she knows there lies, and has no qualms about ‘going big’, telling bold face lies. Again, not sure which is more unsettling.? This is beyond drinking the kool-aid, it’s Orwellian.

  8. Lynn on December 13, 2011 at 12:39 pm

Well, I did hear two pundits Charles Paine (Conservative) and Bob Beckel (Democrat Consultant) both say that in Politics there is always parsing of words. So? the Jobless rate went from 7.6% when President Obama took office. It then went up to 9%, NOW because it is 8.6%, the Democrats can claim a Drop in the Jobless rate.? They can state only the later point and be technically correct. Remember this came from both sides and it was predicted quite correctly.? (I’m sorry I can’t give you the link Paine was on Cavuto and Beckel on “The Five” but don’t remember dates or how to get the quotes from broadcasts) My one HOPE is that the normally memory deficient voters will remember the facts. If the GOP would just stop quibbling among? themselves, they can pound this like a Jackhammer. But, it is up to us to remember and keep the faith.

  9. RoBrDona on December 13, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I think the key here is that the number isn’t factual to start with as Jim notes. Real unemployment including the dreaded category designated “non-labor” is never reported by the MSN.? Note that the jobless rate for adult males declined and the rate for long-term unemployed was close to unchanged. (All per US Bureau of Labor Statistics)? This lends credence to that fact that The Nov. number is seasonal in nature, and even less real than Deb “Cretin” Shultz is actually lying about. Wait until it is revised in January anyway…..? ?

  10. jjflynn on December 13, 2011 at 6:03 pm

    ?
Goes to show you how stupid the Dems think voters are when the send Debbie out to spin for the President.
    ?

    • crystal4 on December 14, 2011 at 7:36 am

Yeah, the Dems don’t have any intellectuals like Palin or Bachmann.
And oh, speaking of Republican? intellectuals, Christine O’Donnell just endorsed Mitt? (in case you were on the edges of your seats, waiting).

    • Dimsdale on December 14, 2011 at 8:41 am

LOL!? Do you want me to post the list of Democrat “intellectuals”?? I only get 75 words here!? Let’s start with ?bama….??? LOLOL!

      B-U-S-H

    • Dimsdale on December 15, 2011 at 10:26 am

LOL!? The same or better grades in college than either Kerry or Gore.? Too bad we have no access to ?’s grades, and the media made as much fun of ? as it did Bush.? Remember the time ?bama got locked out of the WH?? Where is a Nave “Corpseman” when you need one?? LOL!

    • Dimsdale on December 15, 2011 at 10:45 am

“Nave” = “Navy”? (student came in)? 😉

    • crystal4 on December 15, 2011 at 12:37 pm

And Fish, how many letters? lol?

    • Fish on December 15, 2011 at 1:36 pm

I really did not think I would have to explain this. Please see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBHPvfAt5ow

      Fish, J=O=B=S Hysterical!!!!

    • Dimsdale on December 15, 2011 at 9:35 pm

I thought everyone knew that one.? Must be another victim of mainstream media neglect.

  11. teeoff55 on December 13, 2011 at 7:54 pm

Every time I hear her quote numbers, statistics or percentages I am always reminded of my father’s advice to me as a young man: ?”Remember always my son, figures don’t lie but liars figure.”?

    • JBS on December 13, 2011 at 8:40 pm

In the case of the “unemployment numbers,” The Regime owns their manufacture. Witness the “drop” created by those ceasing to look for work (ran out of unemployment benefits) added those jobs created which was then subtracted from the fictitiously low “unemployment number” to product a decline in the percentage of “unemployed.”
Why do I hear a carnival calliope when hearing about these politically manufactured “facts.”?

    • Dimsdale on December 15, 2011 at 10:46 am

Also, did you note how these figures are always “corrected” later?? And always in the wrong (worsening) direction.

    • Dimsdale on December 16, 2011 at 9:00 pm

By “corrected”, I mean “revised” (the term they keep using to cover their “mistakes”).

  12. JBS on December 13, 2011 at 8:52 pm

Debbie Wasserman Shultz = Chester James Carville, Jr..?
Who believed Carville? D’huh, too many people. To echo, tell a lie enough times and many will think it the truth.
Not me though. I think that she is an semi-articulative,? lying, . . .

  13. teeoff55 on December 13, 2011 at 9:09 pm

I just watched that interview again and I’m not sure which is scarier…
What DWS was saying or just DWS herself! ?
The blinking, the rolling of the eyes, the probale fact that Obama’s teleprompter has ?fixated her manical stare…it’s all quite disturbing.

  14. winnie on December 13, 2011 at 10:45 pm

To quote one of the funniest Christmas movies out there (imho) in recent history: “(S)he sits on a throne of lies”…now the question:? does she smell of beef and cheese?? And is she an angry, south pole elf??
Sorry, just trying to get into the Christmas spirit and make light of the boneheaded comments that flibbertigibbets like DWS make.?

  15. ricbee on December 13, 2011 at 11:37 pm

She & the whole administration apparently believe that repeating a lie makes it true.

    • Dimsdale on December 14, 2011 at 8:43 am

Well, it certainly works for Democrats.? Barnum would be proud.

  16. Anybody but Obama on December 14, 2011 at 8:29 am

DWS the Christmas gift that keeps on giving

  17. Don Lombardo on December 14, 2011 at 9:51 am

The old – repeat a lie enough times and people will believe it – trick.

    • Dimsdale on December 14, 2011 at 10:23 am

The tried and true method of dictators and dictator wannabes…..

  18. RoBrDona on December 14, 2011 at 1:35 pm

My favorite Democratic intellectual is Jesse Jackson Jr. Who needs to run for election? Just buy a Senate seat from Blago.

  19. Tim-in-Alabama on December 15, 2011 at 4:26 pm

I laughed so hard at these stupid Democrat mouthpieces and their defenders here I thought I was going to need to call a Navy “corpse” man for medical help.

    • Dimsdale on December 16, 2011 at 2:55 pm

They need those for the ?bamacare death panels!
