Capitalism edges out socialism in poll – Video “Blame The Capitalists”

I am very surprised to see the results of this Rasmussen survey.

Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 20% disagree and say socialism is better. Twenty-seven percent (27%) are not sure which is better.

It is an outrage that this is what our country has been reduced to. NEARLY a majority of Americans either prefer socialism (20 percent) or simply have no idea (27 percent).

Warning, I am going to rant here, if you don’t like my rants click to another story….

You know what the problem is with this country? People have stopped thinking. They just want to be told what to think and what to do. If you are reading this blog you may not one of those people. People in this country have become too damn complacent. You watch TV and you are TOLD that you want a fancy new necklace and shiny new SUV, and to have it your way at Burger King. These impulses along with the availability of irresponsible credit keep you sufficiently complacent so that you stop thinking about things that really matter. And by the way, your getting fat!

So let me take this opportunity to tell YOU what YOU think.

  1. The government is NOT the only one that can fix this financial crisis.
  2. Your government is NOT working in your best interest.
  3. The government does NOT have the right to take over ANY company.
  4. You are OUTRAGED that our president has asked  the CEO of a private company to step down.
  5. The world will continue to spin on it’s axis if GM files for bankruptcy. WITHOUT government help.
  6. It is YOUR job to take care of yourself, not the governments.
  7. Burger King is bad.

If you like I can set up an RSS feed and every day I can tell YOU what YOU think. Trust me, I have your best interests at heart more so than Washington, Madison Avenue, and Wall Street do. I’ll give you 5-6 thoughts a day. I am not going to go into any explanation of any of the points. Just simply know that they are true.

Our educational system has completely failed us if we have 27 percent of Americans that can not form an opinion on whether or socialism is better than capitalism. Socialism is bad, OK? It removes all incentive to excel and compete. A socialist society is like a herd of castrated bulls. They have no drive, no fury, no hunger, no reason to innovate, no reason to put any effort forth to make this world a better place. Even if you can’t understand what I am saying, just know that it is bad ok?

Update: (Jim) Scott Rasmussen was just on with Neil Cavuto and unfortunately blames the capitalists themselves for the surprising results. Egads. Capitalists killing capitalism. But, there is hope … listen through.

This isn't surprising.  Look at who the American public elected president.  Is Obama a capitalist?  Has he ever really pretened to be?  He might say ' hey, I'm a free market guy' but his actions say something completely different.  Erik, you are absolutley correct.  Americans have stopped thinking for themselves.  And when they do have a thought it is usually due to feelings.  The future is frightening if people don't wake up and get informed.

In the Rasmussen article it was stated that an earlier  survey showed that 70% of Americans prefer a free market economy. This suggests to me that 17% of Americans don't even know what capitalism is.

    (or they are very fickle)

"You know what the problem is with this country? People have stopped thinking. "

    Nail… hit… on… head.  Thank You.

My mom was a HS civics teacher.  I remember coming home from college and helping her correct some sophmore history tests.  I was dumbfounded.  I naively thought everyone understood basic American History.

Question:  Who was John Paul Jones?   answer:  War Fighter

Question:  Who was Thomas Jefferson?   answer:  invented electricity

Question:  Who was Ben Franklin?:  answer:  leader

    I kid you not.

The only "question" that was answered correctly with any consistency was "who was the father of our county?"

We teach our students to do, not to think.  We have become a country of anti-lectuals.

But on one point I beg to differ…BK is a bastion of goodness.

Not suprising that capitalism is still a model of sucess. Just look at those countries that had socialism as a model. Examples of failure.

Purest ignorance at its finest.  Anyone that selects socialism as a preferred mode of governance has never seen it in action.  Anyone that reads Marx for the first time says "ooooo" but reality kicks in when you realize that it has no application to reality.

I think the "prefer socialism" and the "have no idea" categories are the same.

And yes, I blame the government schools and their dumbed down curricula for the increasing ignorance of the country.  You wouldn't believe what I hear from freshmen at college…
