Abbas: Absolutely will not recognize a Jewish state

Bully. So Mahmoud Abbas is demanding the United Nations officially recognize Palestine as a state and at the same time is letting the world know there is no way they will recognize a Jewish state in return. It’s all or nothing.

Dude, you’re either going to get nothing or there will be “blood running through the streets” which may be his plan. From YNet News.

Friday afternoon, Abbas said  he is adamant about not recognizing Israel as the Jewish state.

“They talk to us about the Jewish state, but I respond to them with a final answer: We shall not recognize a Jewish state,” Abbas said in a meeting with some 200 senior representatives of the Palestinian community in the US, shortly before taking the podium and delivering a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

Then he marched off to the United Nations…

“We extend our hands to the Israeli government and the Israeli people for peacemaking.”

What am I missing here?

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air notes…

The move comes as a rebuke to Barack Obama, who tried to warn the Palestinians that attempting an end-around on direct negotiations would carry significant political consequences.  Abbas’ persistence appears to show that Obama has little influence on events in the conflict now, which may have its own repercussions in the US for his administration.  Congress will almost certainly respond by suspending aid to the Palestinians, and Obama will have to decide whether to defy a bipartisan effort to punish Abbas for his actions.

Sorry, Charlie.? Recognition of Palestine as a state requires that you recognize Israel as a state.?? The big impediment to peace is Palestine’s refusal to recognize Israel and live in peace.
    ?
    No one way streets here.?

Suspend aid to Palestine, anyway!? I don’t want one thin dime of my hard-earned money going to Hamas or Hezbollah.
How many more times do we have to experience Israel extending a hand in peace only to have rockets launched into it from Palestinian territory.? And, then face a lashing from the MSM.? Enough is enough.?

So maybe if this nitwit refuses to recognize Israel, then Israel will just go away? ?Where do people like this come from! ?He reminds me a lot of our president!

Well, here was a clue.? Last October, Abbas visited Bethlehem and held up a stone map of “Palestine” where Israel totally didn’t exist any more:

The Palestinians as a?so-called “people” didn’t exist until after the 1967 war.? Here’s an interesting article on the subject:

PV, Great question! We can’t afford it anymore and it brings unsavory characters to NY. Let’s sell the building and let some other country house that? “Ship of Fools”.
