30 shot in Chicago over the weekend (so far)

This is terrible. As of 6 p.m. tonight, NBC in Chicago is reporting there have been 30 people shot over the weekend in the windy city. I’m not one to ask “how are those strict Chicago gun laws working for you” for the simple fact it is easy to move firearms from place to place. What I will point out is other cities with populations close to Chicago – I know there is a big difference in population between the Big 5 – have fewer shootings (not necessarily homicides) per capita and less restrictive gun laws.

From NBC Chicago.

At least 30 people have been shot across Chicago this weekend, four of them fatally, officials said.

The weekend’s first fatal shooting took place around 1:45 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of West Howard Street in the city’s Rogers Park neighborhood when an 18-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to his torso and back, police said.

The story goes on to list the shootings. Not surprisingly, most of them seem to be gang-related and or drive-bys.

I want to point out the biggest single factor in Chicago is the gun-thug culture in the city. It’s not the “ineffective” yet extremely restrictive gun laws. It’s not all about guns no matter how much the anti-gun folks wants you to think. There are an unending number of variable involved.

This is a culture problem people.

It’s all about the police refusing to walk a beat. We must get them back on the street, there & here in the “Shooting Star”.

Chicago citizens: Get the cops out of their cars and onto the neighborhood beats, these are our children just theys outta control.
Chicago gangs: This territory is ours an yous cain’t do business here less we gets a cut. An, yous gotta sell our product. Simple as that. Mess up an we put a bullet in you an your homies. Straight up, yo!
Chicago politicians: We need to call out the National Guard! The gangs are killing anyone and everyone. We need more gun laws! That will fix our problem.
Gangs’ lawyers meeting with the Chicago politicians: Here’s your cut for the week, keep the misdirection going just like you are doing an we can move our product an make mad money, So what if some chumps get in the way an get wasted. Neighborhoods are full of punks. It’s their tough luck, business first.
Chicago citizens: Ain’t my child is no banger! He provides for us and sees to it his younger sisters and brothers gots food on the table and clean clothes to wear. You got a problem wid that?
Clocking dollars an moving product are all it’s about. Butter-neck fools better step off. Homes gets hurt,…

No longer “Escape from New York”, now it’s Chicago. If policeman walking a beat will help, I’m all for it, but they need to wear flak jackets and full head helmets. It seems that Rahm is allowing a drug cartel operate in a US city. My question is who is at the top?
